If you could trade places with anyone...in general or TOL?

No I wouldn't, Mrs Psalmist and I have been together for years, we have lots of grandchildren and great grandchildren, I have the nursing home ministry to tend to, I would rather see how this all plays out.

Someone might say "Why not, could be fun. and you wouldn't make the same mistakes." I would in reply say, "No, I wouldn't, I'd make new ones."

Life is like a hypothetical sea, to which I respond about it...

So the shipmaster came…For He commands and raises the stormy wind…lifts up the waves of the sea. He calms the storm, so that its waves are still. Then they are glad because they are quiet; so He guides them to their desired haven. I will praise You, for You have answered me, and have become my salvation.

All you people who said you wouldn't switch with anyone are boring. :plain:

After I'm done being Verlander I'd switch with an astronaut so I can go to space!

I can honestly say, I wouldn't want to be anyone else but me :)

If one imagines a complete person becoming another different complete person, and yet these two complete persons retained all the qualties of these two persons, then there would be no actual change of persons. For one person to actually be a different person and know it, then the second person would have to retain some of the qualites(*edit-and memory) of the first person. But then, in that case, there wouldn't be a complete transformation of one person into another person.
For one to become a different person is an impossibility.

I would trade places with the younger me and straighten that kid out.

If it had to be someone else, then Einstein. I so admire brilliance.

Whenever Richard Cory went down town,
We people on the pavement looked at him:
He was a gentleman from sole to crown,
Clean favored, and imperially slim.

And he was always quietly arrayed,
And he was always human when he talked;
But still he fluttered pulses when he said,
'Good-morning,' and he glittered when he walked.

And he was rich - yes, richer than a king -
And admirably schooled in every grace:
In fine, we thought that he was everything
To make us wish that we were in his place.

So on we worked, and waited for the light,
And went without the meat, and cursed the bread;
And Richard Cory, one calm summer night,
Went home and put a bullet through his head.

I can't really say I would want to stop being me, but there are some out there that I'd like to straighten out, and I could do that if I were in their skin for a bit.

But then I'd be afraid what they might do as me.

But, truthfully, the only person who really matters has already taken my place and traded His life for mine.

I've seen the show once or twice. I know who Sheldon is. That did sound a lot like Sheldon, didn't it?
I'm not Sheldon and he's not me, but if we were..... we really wouldn't be.

This isn't going to be easy for me...

My grandson Kaiden...I would like to trade places with him. Not for long, just for a split second.

This past Saturday evening my wife and I attended a retirement party for a friend. It was being held at a rural home not far from where we live. My wife and I brought Kaiden with us as we were taking care of him for the day.

Kaiden is 17 mos. old and a very happy but rough little boy. He keeps us endlessly busy bouncing off walls and getting into whatever mischief he can. IOW normal little boy stuff.

We took him out of his car seat and he took off running up the rise toward the barn. I followed along behind as usual but I let him get too far in front of me. He suddenly stopped but I didn't know why immediately because his back was to me. When I got closer I saw he was face to face with a rooster. I know roosters can be dangerous so the alarm bells went off immediately in my head. I kept moving toward them watching the bird...it wasn't showing any signs of agitation and I didn't want to spook the bird into feeling threatened (which may spur an attack) so I calmly walked up to Kaidens side and was just starting leaning over to pick him up when the bird went at him. The rooster clawed his little face from the left side of his forehead across into his right eye. I snatched him up and kicked the bird away but it was too late...I was too late...too slow.
The ambulance brought him to Arnold Palmer Childrens Hospital in Orlando where he went into surgery almost immediately. Everyone there did an awesome job but alot of damage was done...his little eye had collapsed and was filled with blood. Besides damaging the cornea the roosters talon has damaged the retina. The surgeon was able to "reinflate" (for lack of a better term) and repair the eye physically. But we won't know until next week (When he goes into surgery again with a retina specialist) if he will ever be able to see out of it again.

Right now the big threat is infection. As I write this I'm listening to Kaiden scream while his mother, father and my wife hold him down to apply the three courses of anti-biotics which we have to apply directly to his eye...four times a day. I help hold him down when I have to but his daddy is here to do it at the moment. If infection sets in it's game-over...he will lose the eye.

He's such a tough little guy. Once the antibiotics are applied, the eye protector put back on, and he is let up; he just bounces right back. Stops crying...starts playing again.

I would give anything if that damned bird had gotten me instead...if I had been faster...if it was my eye in the balence and not his. I'd give anything.

TomO, I'm so sorry. This breaks my heart. I'll be praying for Kaiden, you and all of yours.

My grand daughter was at my house when she was little. My yellow lab who wasn't mean, pawed her eye and it ripped into the tear duct and scratched her face. They put some kind of temporary stent in and it healed up. You can't tell it now. We should have been watching her more carefully. I know the regret.
I pray that Kaiden heals up, as well.
