Same response I give pretty much everything he says, "You, sir, disgust me."

Of course, absent context this may seem rude, but I'm more than willing to explain myself.

For instance, in his comments on weapons bans he said something about us needing to protect our children, and that disgusted me. Why? Because this is the same exact person who, on the subject of abortion, stated that he didn't want his daughters "punished" with a baby. He's a hypocrite, and he disgusts me.

As do most other politicians, for their godlessness and hypocrisy, as well.

I thought it was interesting that the republican reply spent so much time agreeing with him and pretending that they didn't agree.

I have reached a point where my blood pressure does not allow me to listen to Gothic fairy tales.

I wish we could address some really important problems, but the government is now so broken and demoralized that this is impossible. I saw the speech as a sad resignation to a government process that has completely failed it's citizens.

Read the transcript this morning. Fairly boilerplate stuff. Also the drawdown in Afghanistan is swell and all, but it doesn't change the fact that my brother's shipping out there tomorrow.

P.S. I thought Speaker Boehner acted pretty childish the entire evening. And it looked like Uncle Joe had pre-gamed with a couple of Red Bull and vodkas.:chuckle:

State of the Union speech? What State of the Union speech?
I enjoyed the newly released DVD, "Skyfall." It was wonderful!

I was surprised, given the inaugural address, at how much of it was a call for bipartisan effort. And I agree that an up and down vote on gun control is a good idea. I suspect he won't care for much of it and some in the NRA who've flipped on a couple of issues won't either, but in the end that's probably a good thing. Overall I suspect it will rank as a decent job, as political speeches go. Much better than the last one, certainly.

Why Is Obama Such A Cheapskate?

Pres. Obama's proposal to raise the minimum wage to $9.00 per hour, reflects his contempt for lower-income people. If a $9.00 minimum wage would help poorer people - and without any negative effects, as defenders of this form of price-fixing often pretend - why would he not have the state confer untold wealth on us all by raising the minimum wage to $9.00 per minute, or even higher? Why is he such a piker? After all, wealth is just money, is it not? And if providing every American with $100 billion in cash would make us all rich, why is he holding back? If the government of Zimbabwe had the foresight - and generous intentions - to do this, why not America?

If Congress does not come through with his paltry $9.00 per hour minimum wage, will the president demonstrate his strong leadership and simply order it on his own?

I recorded it, but I haven't had the stomach to listen to it yet.
I may just delete it.
I haven't been impressed at all by anything he has said or done before.

One of the messages I sent to my representative and two Senators is the following:

"
More Federal programs?

More tax dollars invested in businesses he chooses to support, all that ultimately fail?

Where are the Federal budgets for the last four years?

The Democrat/Socialist/Communist party cannot pass a budget and he claims he has a solution to our economic woes?

A balanced approach?

He puts the burden of government overspending on the taxpayers right shoulder and now wants to balance that by putting the burden of paying for it on the taxpayer's left shoulder.

He is a an evil man that opposes all that is right and good in this country."

Another message I sent to the three is:

He wants a vote in Congress about gun control?

The vote that was already counted is the cause for such massacres that we have seen.

When someone votes that putting up a sign that says, "Gun Free Zone" is sufficient to stop a lunatic hell bent on murder/suicide then we discover who is responsible for the mass shootings!

The gun control minority is responsible for the mass shootings!

The way you stop a bad person with a gun is with a good person with a gun.

When you outlaw guns, only outlaws will have guns.

None of my friends give me any reason to tolerate gun restrictions.

The people who desire gun restrictions are hanging around the thugs/murderers and rapists that shouldn't have guns. The reason they fear guns is because their friends are criminals!

The minumum wage concept is a farce.

Merit, not legislation is the reason for higher pay.

Minimum wages should be done away with, then companies could afford to hire and keep those who actually produce, by paying them well.

People need to learn that work is the reason you get paid
