Who exactly are God's People ? Those He foreknew! 3

Who exactly are God's People ? Those He foreknew! 3

This knowing or foreknowing involves God's Special Choice of a People as indicated here Amos 3:2

2 You only have I known of all the families of the earth: therefore I will punish you for all your iniquities.

Cop with Deut 7:6-7

6 For thou art an holy people unto the Lord thy God: the Lord thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth.

7 The Lord did not set his love upon you, nor choose you, because ye were more in number than any people; for ye were the fewest of all people:

And here we observe that God's Choice of a People is governed by His Love for them, and so that should tell us who they are in Jn 3:16. So now we can see the link between God's Knowing / Foreknowing a People or Christ also since He is God, and will be speaking as such in Matt 7:23, We therefore see the connection between Him knowing a Person or People and Him Loving them Amos 3:2; Deut 7:6-7, hence God's Love, Choice nd Knowing.

So in essence, Jesus the God Man is telling those in Matt 7:23, I never loved you, I never chose you !

The Church !

The Church !

The word church in the greek signifies called out, for the church is called out or separated from the rest of mankind or the world, that world which lieth in wickedness 1 Jn 5:19

19 And we[The Church] know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness.

They [The Church ] are the ones whom God by His Spirit separates from darkness Acts 26:18; Col 1:13, and especially its seen here 1 Pet 2:9

9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;

Thats the church called [kaleō] out of [ek]

You put them together you have the word ekklesia which is the word church !

So the church can be called a chosen people, a royal priesthood, an Holy Nation, a peculiar people !

Now all these apply to Israel Ex 19:5,6.

So those called out of darkness into marvelous light constitutes the Church, and the called out here as indicated were typified under old covenant Israel Ex 19:6, in fact they were even called by the Spirit the church in the wilderness Acts 7:38

38 This is he, that was in the church in the wilderness with the angel which spake to him in the mount Sina, and with our fathers: who received the lively oracles to give unto us:

Now understand this, the church in the wilderness was the seed of Abraham, a separated people from the rest of the nations of the world, for Stephen even begins His sermon with Abraham being called out Acts 7:2-3

2 And he said, Men, brethren, and fathers, hearken; The God of glory appeared unto our father Abraham, when he was in Mesopotamia, before he dwelt in Charran,

3 And said unto him, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and come into the land which I shall shew thee.

And this is the beginning of the official outward formation of the church, the called out ones, and this call came to Abraham as an Gentile or as Paul says in Uncircumcision Rom 4:9-13

9 Cometh this blessedness then upon the circumcision only, or upon the uncircumcision also? for we say that faith was reckoned to Abraham for righteousness.

10 How was it then reckoned? when he was in circumcision, or in uncircumcision? Not in circumcision, but in uncircumcision.

11 And he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had yet being uncircumcised: that he might be the father of all them that believe, though they be not circumcised; that righteousness might be imputed unto them also:

12 And the father of circumcision to them who are not of the circumcision only, but who also walk in the steps of that faith of our father Abraham, which he had being yet uncircumcised.

13 For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, was not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith.

So its the Seed of Abraham that is the Church, the called out ones, and all who are called by Christ that are Abraham's Seed Gal 3:29

29 And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.

So the church in the wilderness which was Abraham's Seed, is the Church in the New Covenant that is Abraham's Seed Gal 3:29, the big difference now being, the church under the Old Covenant of Abraham's seed was primarily comprised of Abraham's physical seed who had been given Faith in Christ as he had been given [Jn 8:56], whereas under the New Covenant, it consist more of Abraham's non jewish seed of the gentiles who have been given faith in Christ. Lets remember that Ishmael was also Abraham's physical seed, and he was circumcised because that pictured a deeper truth Gen 17:22-25

22 And he left off talking with him, and God went up from Abraham.

23 And Abraham took Ishmael his son, and all that were born in his house, and all that were bought with his money, every male among the men of Abraham's house; and circumcised the flesh of their foreskin in the selfsame day, as God had said unto him.

24 And Abraham was ninety years old and nine, when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin.

25 And Ishmael his son was thirteen years old, when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin.

The message is this, that Abraham would be given a spiritual seed called out of both jews and gentiles alike, and they are simply the called as here Rom 9:24

24 Even us, whom he hath called[Seed of Abraham], not of the Jews only, but also of the Gentiles?

Even though this called people are from out among jew and gentile, its still restricted to Abraham's Seed Gal 3:29.

That Abraham has this exclusive Seed or Offspring from amongst all nations, not just one [national israel] is clear from God's word here when He changed his name from Abram to Abraham Gen 17:5

5 Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee.

So technically his Name Abraham should be more connected to him being a Father of many nations more so to just one !

It cannot be made any more plainer that God made Abraham the Father of a Seed that comprised a multitude of nations, which included national Israel, but not limited to. And Paul interprets that here Rom 4:16-18

16 Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all,

17 (As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.

18 Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be.

and thats the whole Church, called out of darkness, into the Marvelous light of God's Kingdom of His Dear Son Col 1:13, who by the way is Abraham's Seed. Matt 8:11

And I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven.

Thats Abraham's Seed, the Church/called out ones, God's Israel from all nations !
Amen Brother, excellent teaching in the Word !

Now God's Israel under the Old Covenant was mostly comprised of Abraham's Physical seed [who had been born again] and ever so often a gentile was grafted in like a Rahab and a Ruth, however now under the New Covenant, God's Israel is mostly comprised of Gentiles, whom with Abraham's physical seed being grafted in ever so often, however with either, God's Israel is not a mere physical or ethnic people, but always has been a spiritual People, Those who worship Him in Spirit and in Truth. Ps 51:6

Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom.

Ps 73:1

Truly God is good to Israel, even to such as are of a clean heart. Or pure heart.

We should know by this, Israel in view is the regenerated, one with a New Heart !

Israel are the Children of Promise !

Israel are the Children of Promise !

Rom 9:6-8

6 Not as though the word of God hath taken none effect. For they are not all Israel, which are of Israel:

7 Neither, because they are the seed of Abraham, are they all children: but, In Isaac shall thy seed be called.

8 That is, They which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God: but the children of the promise are counted for the seed.

They are this Seed Isa 45:25

In the Lord shall all the seed of Israel be justified, and shall glory.

Everyone being deceived thinks this Seed of Israel are the physical descendants of Abraham, but its not, no they are Abraham's Children of Promise which are the Seed of Israel that shall be Justified in the Lord Jesus Christ.

In Genesis 22:16-17

16 And said, By myself have I sworn, saith the Lord, for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son:

17 That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies;

After Abraham passed the Test given him by God to sacrifice the Child of Promise, God did reaffirm a Promise already made to him notice Vs 17 The offspring God promised to multiply here are not Abraham's Physical descendants, but his Spiritual descendants, or other Children of promise as Isaac was here, so Paul writes to believers in Christ, both jews and Gentiles this in Gal 4:28

28 Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are the children of promise.

That's why Paul says in Rom 9:7

Neither, because they are the seed of Abraham, are they all children: but, In Isaac shall thy seed be called.

For Isaac was a Type of that Seed Israel which would be called !

And these descendants of Abraham would e distinct from his physical descendants Rom 9:8.

So in essence God's promise to Abraham in Gen 22:17 was a Promise to multiply the Children of God or Promise, which as a consequence would produce people with Faith in Christ, because it is written Gal 3:26

26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.

The same Children of God as in Rom 9:8 ! See Gal 3:7 too !

Now the oath God made in Gen 22:17 was but a restating what God Promised Abraham in Gen 17:2-8

2 And I will make my covenant between me and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly.

3 And Abram fell on his face: and God talked with him, saying,

4 As for me, behold, my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be a father of many nations.

5 Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee.

6 And I will make thee exceeding fruitful, and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come out of thee.

7 And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee.

8 And I will give unto thee, and to thy seed after thee, the land wherein thou art a stranger, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their God.

And this is what the writer of Hebrews points to in Heb 6:13-14,17

13 For when God made promise to Abraham, because he could swear by no greater, he sware by himself,

14 Saying, Surely blessing I will bless thee, and multiplying I will multiply thee.

17 Wherein God, willing more abundantly to shew unto the heirs of promise the immutability of his counsel, confirmed it by an oath:

And God's Immutable Counsel is anchored in His Eternal Purpose of Election as set forth in Eph 1:4,9-11 , The Heirs of Promise and the Elect in Christ are one and the same ! And that's Israel !

Amen, and Glory to God !

Ruler in Israel !

Ruler in Israel !

Micah 5:2

2 But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.

Rom 9:6

6 Not as though the word of God hath taken none effect. For they are not all Israel, which are of Israel:

Many erroneously believe that Israel in Micah 5:2 is the physical nation of Israel, Abraham's physical descendants, but its not. Its a Spiritual Israel comprised of both jew and Gentile believers, the Spiritual Seed of Abraham. You see Jesus is the predicted Ruler here, and His Kingdom is not of this World Jn 18:36

Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence.

A Kingdom is literally :

The realm in which a king sovereignly rules

Always requires a king

The Kingdom Jesus was referring to was presently His Kingdom, MY KINGDOM, and it was not a future kingdom, but one He properly possessed at that very time, in fact, He presently had servants of that Kingdom, He was then currently King and Ruler of His Kingdom.

Jesus Kingdom and Rulership is foundation ed upon His Finished Work of the Cross, and Isaiah mentions it Isa 9:6-7

6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given [To die under the Law]: and the government or rule shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

7 Of the increase of his government or rule and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.

Notice in this Rule of His Kingdom He orders it ! That word order means:

to be firm, be stable, be established

a) (Niphal)

1) to be set up, be established, be fixed

a) to be firmly established

b) to be established, be stable, be secure, be enduring

c) to be fixed, be securely determined

2) to be directed aright, be fixed aright, be steadfast (moral sense)

3) to prepare, be ready

4) to be prepared, be arranged, be settled

b) (Hiphil)

1) to establish, set up, accomplish, do, make firm

2) to fix, make ready, prepare, provide, provide for, furnish

3) to direct toward (moral sense)

4) to arrange, order

This He does by the Gifts and Gifted Persons He gave His Church Eph 4:8-12

8 Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.

9 (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?

10 He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)

11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;

12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:

Paul says also He set 1 Cor 12:18,28

18 But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him.

27 Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.

28 And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.

The word body is soma and means:

is used of a (large or small) number of men closely united into one society, or family as it were; a social, ethical, mystical body

And this does describe a Kingdom which is:

1. a territory, state, people, or community ruled or reigned over by a king or queen

Its a commonwealth of which the Church is Eph 2:12-14

12 That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:

13 But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.

14 For he is our peace, who hath made both one[commonwealth or Kingdom], and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us;

Christ is the Head of this Kingdom or Commonwealth.

Again a Kingdom is:

a state or government having a king or queen as its head.

And Christ is the King / Head of His Church !

Eph 1:22

And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church,

Col 1:18

And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.

The Church, His Body is the Israel He is ruler of Mich 5:2 !

Amen Brother, excellent !
