@Town Heretic argues against abortion rights based there being a preponderance of evidence that we cannot objectively know when on the timeline, between conception on one side and birth on the other, that the baby's right to life comes into being. Since we objectively cannot be sure, combined with it being such a grave evil if we are wrong about it, we are therefore only morally permitted to forbid and outlaw unjustified abortion.
I recommend reading the first page of the linked thread if you haven't, with Quip's and Town's back-and-forth.

Town's reasoning is simply solid. He doesn't even argue from the position that life begins at conception, he merely ties together the fact that our constitution is based upon human rights and that rights attach at some point between conception and birth inclusive, and that since it's currently unknowable when that point is, that it's simply responsible to forbid elective abortion.

That is completely and utterly wrong. We know, for a fact, that life begins at conception. That is irrefutable Biblical and scientific knowledge.

"rights attach" is babbling nonsense.

TOL user Servent101 [sic], who joined 20 years ago, at age 100 (lol), is "Looking for a church."

If you are looking for a church, consider Mass. This is what "going to church" means according to the oldest, ancientest Christian traditions. Mass is where we weekly abide by the Lord's command to His Apostles: "Do this in memory of Me."

Hope your ban is up soon.

Came across this thread the other day. There are few threads left from my first couple years here when I was still a Republican. It's from the year before I left the GOP.

I miss so many posters who aren't here anymore.

Amazing to review that thread. Not a single mention of The Donald

It is what it is. I'm an unapologetic Catholic apologist whose Catholic apologetics is unapologetically Catholic. And TOL is Dispensationalist.

President Trump did, what you and Chrysostom were talking about, with the link with judges and abortion. For whatever he is, he did more to defend the fetus, than any other politician in America since Roe.

(Also Town is a legal positivist. He doesn't know it and he doesn't really know what legal theory is, in spite of being clearly a very responsible officer of the court. Legal theory is another thing. And being a superlative officer of the court doesn't require any sort of legal theory, since legal theory really only bears on the law when there's the absolute power of judicial review and an independent judiciary and a supreme court of highest appeal. Which is what we alone in America I think, have. So legal theory is where the two parties divide, and legal theory is super-duper important when it comes to appointing (hiring) judges, obviously especially the Supreme Court justices. But ordinarily no lawyer, and most judges really, don't need any sort of developed legal theory to be very moral officers of the court.)

An old thread which prompts a slightly different but related question:

Is reading the Bible a work?

What definition of rape are we using?
As if there is more than one....
Israel under the Old Covenant was a special case.
Do you know what "everlasting" means?

Genesis 17:13 He who is born in your house and he who is bought with your money must be circumcised, and My covenant shall be in your flesh for an everlasting covenant.

Ezekiel 37 26 Moreover I will make a covenant of peace with them, and it shall be an everlasting covenant with them; I will establish them and multiply them, and I will set My sanctuary in their midst forevermore.

The first is already here, the next is not here yet. Israel broke it, God did not. It is everlasting. No, it will not get them into the Body.

A husband can rape his own wife, yes. It would be criminal and gravely sinful, and if he were my daughter's husband I'd have him arrested and help her divorce him.

The Boston Red Sox (who played a baseball game the day of the Marathon bombing) went on to win the World Series that year.

So, why are you dredging this thread up?
Just some interesting ideas in the OP; some common challenges /doubts offered by seekers and nonbelievers and Christians. I thought this one was particularly interesting (being Catholic I notice such things):

"Even the proof of mary existance if there is any please give me any links on this or proofs outside of the religion , and the bible on this please, it is so important."

Why would proof of Mary's existence be "so important?"
