I must disagree in that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Soul sleep is not biblical.
What do you believe is the purpose of the resurrection?
Somebody said you shall not surely die, you believe that don't you?

We die, our soul sleeps, there is no knowledge in the grave.
We die, our spirit (breath) goes back to God who gave it to us.

They're not held on the Sabbath (which is Saturday) because God rested on the 7th day.
I do not believe that our departed loved ones are in heaven looking down on us. It's nice to think that they are but......

Is that why God did not allow sacrifices on the weekly or annual Sabbaths?
The saved who have died are with Jesus in heaven and they can look down and see us.
What about the unsaved who died? Do they also look down and see us?
Where is this heaven you refer to? I want to check it out to see how well it compares to Texas.
I'm not sure. I'd have to look into that.
Those who die unsaved, who reject God, are immediately in Hell, separated from God.
Jesus talks more about hell than the Old Testament does.Where is this hell you refer to? I want to check it out to see how it compares to Texas.

Death and Hell will be cast into the Lake of Fire after the Great White Throne Judgment, along with those who are not found in the Lamb's Book of Life. There are three Greek words translated as hell. Are you referring to one or all?
Keep in mind that death and hell will be destroyed.

Nope.

Currently, those who die are sent straight to Hell, which is where they are temporarily held until the GWT judgement.

Huh?
So my dad, a follower of Jesus Christ, saved by the blood, is in hell waiting until Jesus returns? Some clarifying seems needed. Thanks.

What?
No they're not, why would you think that?
Jesus said to the thief, today you will be with me in paradise, not today you will be in hell!
And he said to his disciples, I go to prepare a place for you, and that certainly won't be in hell!
Do you think that God would put those who love him, who follow his son and live by the his will into hell?
No way, they go straight into the arms of God! God is love, and those who are his, will be in his love when they leave this flesh!
We're already in hell when we live by the will of the flesh!
Oh ok, sorry.I think you missed my two posts above that about those who are saved, just like drbrumley did.
