I must disagree in that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Soul sleep is not biblical.

What do you believe is the purpose of the resurrection?

Somebody said you shall not surely die, you believe that don't you?

I do not believe that our departed loved ones are in heaven looking down on us. It's nice to think that they are but......

The saved who have died are with Jesus in heaven and they can look down and see us.

Hebrews 12:1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us,

What about the unsaved who died? Do they also look down and see us?

Where is this heaven you refer to? I want to check it out to see how well it compares to Texas.

Those who die unsaved, who reject God, are immediately in Hell, separated from God.

I gave the scripture that says there is a cloud of witnesses.

If you do not speak according to the word, you have no light of dawn.

There are three Greek words translated as hell. Are you referring to one or all?

Keep in mind that death and hell will be destroyed.
Death and Hell will be cast into the Lake of Fire after the Great White Throne Judgment, along with those who are not found in the Lamb's Book of Life.

Currently, those who die are sent straight to Hell, which is where they are temporarily held until the GWT judgement.

It also means that he was created FIRST.

Nope.

GOD authors scripture. And GOD called some very special folks to Him to set apart and call "firstborn".
And one does not have to go out on limb to recognize that it set a precedence of what was prophetic of Christ.
And it didn't have squat to do with being the 1st born in sequence.

Huh?

So my dad, a follower of Jesus Christ, saved by the blood, is in hell waiting until Jesus returns? Some clarifying seems needed. Thanks.

What?

No they're not, why would you think that?

Jesus said to the thief, today you will be with me in paradise, not today you will be in hell!

And he said to his disciples, I go to prepare a place for you, and that certainly won't be in hell!

Do you think that God would put those who love him, who follow his son and live by the his will into hell?

No way, they go straight into the arms of God! God is love, and those who are his, will be in his love when they leave this flesh!

We're already in hell when we live by the will of the flesh!

I think you missed my two posts above that about those who are saved, just like drbrumley did.

Oh ok, sorry.

But there's just one thing, I believe the we are in hell when we don't live by the will of God. Because satan had control of us when we live by the lusts of our flesh.

So those being saved, are those walking in the spirit, following Christ Jesus and living by the will of God.

I truly hope for as many as possible to hear the truth, to believe and repent and turn to Christ and be lifted out of the pit of hell in this lifetime!

There's hope for everyone until their last breath, then it's all in Gods hands.

Sorry that I didn't read your posts that you had written before, I was wrong to just jump in like that.
