Your soul and your body are different things.. Come on people, this isn't rocket science.

Exactly, a soul is comprised of a body and a spirit. Death is separation of body and spirit.

A body can be alive or dead, so a soul can be alive or dead.

Honestly, I am bewildered by that question. The soul will live forever in either Heaven or Hell. The soul will never die. Are you not calling that cruelty?

Jesus said, "And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell." (Matthew 10:28)

When a person dies they no longer live.

Jesus said, "And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell." (Matthew 10:28)

The word "destroy" means to perish.

where does it say everlasting destruction?
Here
2 Thessalonians 1:7-9

And to you who are troubled, rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with His mighty angels,8*In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: 9*Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of His power;

Meshak, what does everlasting mean?

Ok, that does not harmonize with Jesus' word.

I take Jesus' word.

so there.

So here we are again. Paul is a dolt who doesn't teach what Jesus teached. When in fact it is Jesus who taught him.

Peter even said in His epistle,

2 Peter 3:15-17New King James Version (NKJV)
15*and consider that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation—as also our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given to him, has written to you, 16*as also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which untaught and unstable people twist to their own destruction, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures.
