ECT The gap theory?

I believe replenish means replenish, not plenish.

That is correct.

God told Noah to replenish the earth.

Genesis 9:1

There had been many, there had been plenty of humans, but after the flood, there were few.

For it to be filled again, Noah and his family would have to replentify it.

Likewise in Genesis 1:28

God was restoring the earth and the heavens because it had been severely damaged so much so that it could not support any life, let alone human life.

this event occurred between Genesis 1:1 and 1:2

God did not make a mess, then have to clean it up.

God made a perfect heaven and earth in Genesis 1:1, then there was a rebellion in heaven that caused universal catastrophe. Revelation 12:7-9

There was most definitely a gap between verses 1 and 2

The gap theory?

There are 2 Gap theorys one for wrong reasons one for right.

The wrong reason is for dinosaur space, to fit billions of years between Gen 1:1-2.

The right reason is to see the fall of satan that caused the earth to be without form and void.

The only gap theory I know is the one that encompasses all of the above and it is incorrect!

God's Word Tells Adam and Noah to fill the earth. Replenish is a English word that has changed meaning over the years. Thats why most modern translations (Incl the New KJV) use the word "fill' rather than 'replenish.
(The gap theory is not possible in Hebrew...verse 2 is a continuation of verse 1)

Are you saying God made the firmament but he didn't create it?

If God didn't create heaven who did?

:deadhorse:

If you have a car in a shop for repairs and you want to drive it somewhere, does God have to create one for you to open the door and start driving? NO, you already have one. You simply have to have the one you have repaired.

Why didn't God have to create a firmament in Genesis 1:7? Because everything it takes to make a firmament existed from his actions in Genesis 1:1

Why didn't God create light in Genesis 1:3? Because everything needed for light was created in Genesis 1:1. If you walk into a dark room, do you have to create light for the room to be lit? No, you simply flip the switch.

I am saying in Genesis 1:7 that God did not create the firmament?

No, I am not saying that,

God Almighty is saying that

What does the verse say? Did I sneak into your house and replace your Bible with one that I authored? The oatmeal version of 1611?

Who authored scripture?

Me?

NO, God authored scripture.

God didn't have to create the firmament, because everything the firmament is made of was created in Genesis 1:1

There had to have been a cataclysmic event between Genesis 1:1 and Genesis 1:2 for God to have to take all the steps he did to make earth habitable for man.

Evidently the Hebrew word that is the equivalent to our verb "to be" is more accurately translated "to become"

The earth became without form and void. God did not create it that way.

God's did not screw it up in Genesis 1:1 and then have to take six more days to make it right. He got it right the first time.

Yes, that is a possible translation

Noah filled it. why? because it had become empty and needed to be

filled again

Do you fill your gas tank when it gets to E?

Fill is a good description, but you are actually refilling it, you are can only fill it once, after that you are actually refilling it, because it was filled before and now it is empty, thus you are actually refilling it.

Chalmers figured a way to compromise on what God's Word teaches. But had he looked at the Hebrew, he would have understood that that the text doesn't allow for a gap.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
1. The Gap Theory is false because of the mental gymnastics necessary to force its strained argumentation to agree with the actual biblical text.

2. The Gap Theory is false because it is based on an incorrect distinction between God’s creating (bara) and making (asah).

3. The Gap Theory is false because, in the context of Genesis 1:2, there is no justification for translating the verb “was” (hayetha) as “became"

4. We reject the Gap Theory because tohu wabohudoes not mean only “something once in a state of repair, but now ruined.”

5. The Gap Theory is erroneous because there is no evidence for the claim that Satan’s rebellion was on the Earth, or responsible for any great “cataclysm.”

6. We reject the Gap Theory because its proof-text (Isaiah 45:18) is premised on a removal of the verse from its proper context.

7. The Gap Theory is false because it implies death of humankind on the Earth prior to Adam.

Without the gap, you end up with a God that could not get it right the first time.

An imperfect God?

No, it is you that has to do the mental gymnastics.

and worse, you blame God for an imperfect world, for a total mess and that is just wrong

John 10:10 tells us who the destroyer is.

Where does it say that humans existed before the cataclysm?

You assume that the life force that moved the animals was the same.

Quit assuming

An imperfect God?
In the beginning, God created....

The Genesis account goes on to describe a creation God called "very good"..... He got it right!
worse, you blame God for an imperfect world, for a total mess and that is just wrong

What imperfect world? What total mess? That is your addition to scripture.

John 10:10 tells us who the destroyer is.
"The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full."
Yes, Satan destroys lives. What's the connection?

Where does it say that humans existed before the cataclysm?.
Genesis 7:21 Every living thing that moved on land perished—birds, livestock, wild animals, all the creatures that swarm over the earth, and all mankind. 22 Everything on dry land that had the breath of life in its nostrils died

You assume that the life force that moved the animals was the same.

"Replenish" at the time of King James meant 'to fill'. English language has changed over the last several hundred years and the word now means 'refill'.
Most modern translations say FILL the earth,,,, Not refill.

Darby

Young's Literal Translation

And almost every other translation team realizes the word 'replenish' is not accurate,

Umm . . I wonder why the 50 or so KJV Greek scholars used it instead of "plenish"?

The gap theory is not true. The Bible says everything was created in six days. If you want to disregard the Bible for the gap theory, that's your prerogative.

Genesis 3 is chronologically after Genesis 1-2.

Uh, yes. And plenty of other chapters are chronologically after other chapters.

Meanwhile, Satan's fall is described in Genesis 3.

The KJV HEBREW scholars in the 1600s used the word replenish because it meant "to fill" at the time. But over the next several hundred years the meaning of the English word changed to 'refill'. So that is why the New KJV and other modern translations do no use the word 'replenish'
