Just a catch-all place to talk about what interests you, from the listed to technology impacting it.

I was thinking last night about the ubiquitous ten list. You know, if you could only have ten songs on your device or take ten albums to an island, that sort of thing...best five or ten songs by an artist or a band.

Today, if I had to take ten albums worth of music with me...

Miles Davis: Kind of Blue
Steely Dan: Asia
Pink Floyd: Dark Side of the Moon
Stones: Aftermath
U2: War
Neil Young: Harvest
Genesis: The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway
Tom Waits: Swordfishtrombones
The Beachboys: Pet Sounds
Lyle Lovett: I Love Everybody/Road to Ensenada

Thanks. I wanted to create a thing with a lot of room to move around in. Good lists. I don't know if I could even attempt the songs category outside of a band or artist.

Jack has a toothbrush that plays a Queen song so he had me playing Queen songs yesterday. Some really good melody in there.

Top Queen Songs

1. Bohemian Rhapsody, of course.

2.Under Pressure--great collaboration and one of the best pop
passages in terms of coupling heartfelt lyric with a musical build ever.

3. Somebody to Love

4. We Will Rock You--because you have to give a nod to the ultimate stadium anthem

5. Killer Queen

Hon. Mention: The Show Must Go On/Who Wants to Live Forever

Looks like the summer slowdrums continue...

Let's see...top ten songs then.

Tom Petty

1. American Girl--the ultimate convertible with the top down summer song for early in the day/trip.
2. Refugee--We've all felt like that, only he says it the way we wish we had.
3. Free Fallin--the ultimate convertible with the top down summer song late in the afternoon.
4. The Waiting--one of his better, thoughtful songs.
5. Mary Jane's Last Dance--just some kind of cool and don't tell me you aren't waiting on, "Oh, my, my..."
6. I Won't Back Down--defiance served up with a steady hand.
7. A Face in the Crowd--something haunting about this despite a dated production on the album version.
8. You Got Lucky
9. Don't Come Around Here No More
10. Don't Do Me Like That

So...one of the things I like about cutting the sat. tv cord and going internet/Roku is that I stream YouTube over my television and sound system now and Jack is getting a wide assortment of early musical influences. He already has fairly broad taste in music. Miles Davis, Hank Williams, Tom Petty, Dvorak, he's a fan. He's also a huge fan of John Williams' scores, is always humming one thing or the other and stays in tune when he does. Which isn't bad at four. :)
