Still a parable, the purpose of which He said was to conceal truth from those who'd refused what they already heard Him say. Point is, no one can say with certainty it was a literal glimpse into the afterlife of Abe and Laz.

Could be, but I call it a prophecy. Not a future prophecy, but a current one for that time.

We see this referenced elsewhere. Paradise....that place of comfort which is Abraham's bosom.

Luke 23:43 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, Today shalt thou be with me in paradise.

Matt. 12:40 For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

This place of the dead was necessary before Christ's blood was shed on the cross. Hell and Paradise side by side with a great gulf in between.
