Far Better To Build Immune System than Count on Vaccines

Yes, perhaps if we reach herd immunity the disease will subside; however, it might be with us like the flu. I hope not because while the flu kills, it does not kill a half million persons each year like CIVID 19 has.
People are too scared and too quick to latch onto bad ideas that do not solve the problems they are meant to solve. Covid infected millions of people worldwide last year but the numbers were overblown, which did not do any good for the reputations of those running the accepted narratives they wanted everyone to agree with. For example, illnesses and deaths not related to covid were attributed to covid for purposes of supporting the narratives. For that reason, we saw reported infections from the flu plummet last year as though society had been cured of the flu due to the coronavirus.

Here's why you're a moron:

The unexpected but welcome plummeting of influenza cases during the COVID-19 pandemic “certainly showed that many of the social-distancing things we were doing were very effective,” Vanderbilt University School of Medicine infectious disease and health policy professor William Schaffner, MD, said in an interview.

On top of mask wearing, social distancing, and handwashing, Schaffner noted, most international travel was halted and many countries closed schools, keeping children—“the great engine of the distribution of influenza virus”—at home and away from each other.

The CDC reports that over the last 10 years, approximately 12 to 52 thousand people die from the flu each year. And that's with the flu vaccine widely available.
During the 2019-2020 flu season, 51.8% of people ages six months and older got a flu vaccine, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). That’s the highest level since the 2009-2010 flu season, but well below the 70% target that the Department of Health and Human Services set in 2010 for the entire population.

Very similar... Not very affective.

we wore the mask last year, which made a big difference. Mask wearing is not very popular in our 'looks conscious' society, but it can cut down on influenza transmission.

First, there is no way to prove masking and social distancing brought flu cases down any more than tribal rain dances are responsible for periodic rain showers. People believe myths because they are simple, not because they are wise. Nevertheless, what kind of moronic sense does it make to say masking brought flu cases down while covid cases kept increasing?

I did not wear a mask and I did not get influenza. Should I borrow your logic to recommend to others they do not wear masks?

Here's why you're a moron to the second power: I didn't just bring up masks. I also listed social distancing, handwashing, the fact that most international travel was halted and schools were closed, keeping children—“the great engine of the distribution of influenza virus”—at home and away from each other.

Yes, perhaps if we reach herd immunity the disease will subside;

That should have been the goal to begin with, not "flatten the curve" and "wear a mask"... Now it's too late for that.

however, it might be with us like the flu.

That will be the result of what I said above.

I hope not because while the flu kills, it does not kill a half million persons each year like CIVID 19 has.

Again, such will be the result of not gaining tribal immunity at the start.

we wore the mask last year,

You might have. But I only wore it when not doing so would have hindered me from doing my job due to the rules set in place by the places I picked up and delivered from.

which made a big difference.

Nope. No difference whatsoever, and if anything, it made things worse.

Mask wearing is not very popular

It has very little, if anything, to do with popularity.

in our 'looks conscious' society,

How about the fact that it harms psychological development (and their ability to learn how to speak) in infants who have a need to connect to faces, harms the hearing impaired by covering up people's mouths, and it's just a plain abandonment of medical knowledge that's been around for the past 3500 years...

but it can cut down on influenza transmission.

At what cost?

What you are suggesting, let the virus take its course would have killed many more persons, particularly older persons like me. We have to be concerned about older people.

You don't show concern for older people by pretending that masks for everyone everywhere are a solution.

Pretending? You assume what is not true. Masks do prevent the spread, they don't completely stop the spread.
They make so little difference as to be negligible.
If you look at actual data, you cannot tell the difference between areas where masks were heavily used and hardly used at all.

What you are suggesting, let the virus take its course would have killed many more persons,

There is absolutely no way of knowing that. In fact, prior to the covid, the opposite is usually how things went, a new strain of virus comes around, it runs its course, and before you know it, people forget about it because society had reached tribal immunity, so while some may have died initially, fewer people overall died, because almost everyone had been infected from it.

particularly older persons like me. We have to be concerned about older people.

Like forcing them into elder care homes where they can far more easily catch the covid, in order to protect them? Yeah, that worked really well, didn't it? /s

You know nowadays, the old person has all the money and the young have nothing to say
The Who

I don't see the relevance.

Shutting down schools, churches, businesses, and the economy did nothing to stop old people from dying from covid, and young people were still rarely infected, with or without the draconian misguided measures.

It stopped me from dying. Oh, yes, I'm addicted to regular church attendance and had they not closed their door, I would have gone is and got the virus. Thanks for looking out for me and I believe it was under Trumps watch, to boot!
