The Omnibox: all things television

I think they turned it into a Marvel production in the most regrettable sense. I love what special effects have come to as an art, but I'd like to see them in support instead of as the apparent point of too many movies. Richie only makes one movie and that movie isn't in line with Doyle's creation.

Which Norril and Strange? It's a BBC production that's on Netflix at the moment. Not sure where else.
I get BBC but I'm going to have to get Netflix, everybody seems to talk about it.

I had to cut the satellite out when I went to grad school instead of returning to practice, but adding an over the air, indoor HD antenna for locals plus about twenty dollars for Netflix and Hulu Plus (with Amazon Prime coming as a part of my university.org deal) left me feeling more empowered than deprived. I miss some of the ESPN programming and TCM, but not much else. Netflix is worth the slight coin it costs and then some.

So, Hulu Plus comes with Netflix for one low monthly fee?

Sherlock
Terrific show. Have you watched Luther? It's another great British import.

Elementary
Likable. Not on Sherlock's level, but I watch it.

Person of Interest
It got lazy and crazy in the middle act, but ended well.

Justified
Great show that ended in its prime. Rare with American tv.

Loved season 2. Season one was a solid introduction, but if 3 looks like 2 I'm a huge fan.

Royal Pains.
A cute summer show we watched for about three seasons. That was enough for me.

King of Queens
Seinfeld
Never warmed to the King, hate Seinfeld, mostly because I can't stand Jerry, who doesn't believe his average fan has anything interesting to say.

The Black List
I'll be catching up with that on Netflix. Couldn't watch it when Jack got old enough to understand.

A lot of people fell away on this one. I didn't watch it until the series was over. Binge watched it. Loved it and had no problem with the ending. I knew they weren't going to be able to rationally tie up all the loose threads. Enjoyable show even so.

The Office
A "Meh" for me. Just couldn't warm to the characters.

Loved it early, came back to watch it wrap. In between it got messy.

The Closer

Major Crimes

Somebody really likes Sherlock.

I've liked pretty much everything Steven Moffat hase done. Sherlock is in the top three.

I've been waiting for later September with a smile. In a couple I get the truncated 4th season of Luther and the last of Penny Dreadful. Then it's Longmire and Luke Cage to round out the month. As much as I've been unimpressed by the comic book movie genre, I have to say that what Marvel's done on Netflix has been much more interesting. In part because without the enormous return for special effects investment, they're forced to utilize properties that require serious effort on the character development end. Daredevil, by way of, or the recent Jones, during which we got a glimpse of Cage to come.

As a commercial interruption to normal programming, I finally figured out how to post ASCII art work. ;)

Tip: use the

BB codes and the pasted ASCII will not be malformed by the usual spacing justification in the window.

I'm going to check out the new MacGyver, The Exorcist [TV Series], and Van Helsing [TV Series] that were on tonight. I hope I like at least some of them. Bull was good, but I'm afraid it'll be formulaic. And I'm hesitant about the Lethal Weapon TV series.

I Dream of Jennie

When Dallas season last was at an end, they should have had Jennie come back and blink JR into a bottle and toss it in the sea, That would have been better than ghost of Christmas.

Onto a disc?
I was about to say that if you have Netflix you have the whole of it recorded for you, waiting on you.

Bull...I can't see how that premise doesn't get old in a hurry. Lethal Weapon? Rush Hour should have told them that the name isn't enough. Those series were driven by the actors. It's not MASH, with a compelling back story and a large canvas we haven't seen many, many times before.

I doubt it survives the year.

On Longmire...
Is that about Dennis Longmire, protesting the death penalty?
Longmire is a great show. You should look it up. A modern western set in Wyoming that takes time with story arcs and character development. You should take a look if you have Netflix.

Luther's truncated season (two episodes) was entertaining, but if they've actually killed off Alice it will come back to haunt them.

The first episode of Longmire was well paced and packed. I'm trying not to binge this year. Going to take it an episode every couple of days or more, if I can manage it. :D

Sort of what I was thinking. I was also thinking, "Netflix doesn't have DVR."

Pretty much my thoughts exactly. The M*A*S*H bit is all you, but it makes sense.

Haven't watched this one yet.
Looks like it might be worth the watch.

If you can find this 3 season series ----- The Musketeers, it was the best musketeers shows I've seen.
30 shows in all from 2014-2016.
