this is a clear reference to rev 18:4
-suggesting rome is babylon the great
-but
-rome has not fallen, fallen
-rome was not known for trade
-rome can still be found
-rome was not a mystery
-rome does not have many waters
-all of the above is true for constantinople
-do you know what you are talking about?

I have heard that Constantinople helped the Catholics with some of their false doctrines, but the Catholics started in falseness before him.

We have to watch our lives and our doctrines closely.

1 Timothy 4:6 Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers.

2 Timothy 2:17 Their teaching will spread like gangrene.

1 John 4:1 Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.

2 Corinthians 11:13 For such people are false apostles, deceitful workers, masquerading as apostles of Christ. 14 And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. 15 It is not surprising, then, if his servants also masquerade as servants of righteousness. Their end will be what their actions deserve.

Acts 20:29 I know that after I leave, savage wolves will come in among you and will not spare the flock.

And Peter warns us---

2 Peter 2:1-3 But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them—bringing swift destruction on themselves. 2 Many will follow their depraved conduct and will bring the way of truth into disrepute. 3 In their greed these teachers will exploit you with fabricated stories. Their condemnation has long been hanging over them, and their destruction has not been sleeping.

The very purpose of the papal forgeries (Donation of Constantine, Pseudo Isadorian Decreatals) was to create a history of popes that in reality never existed. There sole purpose was to rewrite history to give power & authority to the Roman bishops they never before possessed
Your ignorance is on public display once again. It's easier to ignorantly grab stuff off the internet than it is to genuinely comprehend the issues, isn't it. See THIS and THIS. So much for your above claims.

The Roman Catholic corrupted, disregarded, changed, and left the word of God ( scriptures ) to follow evil men.

Apparently, you assume that academics and theologians possess some sort of doctrinal authority in the Catholic Church. They do not. Theologians have no more authority in the Church than any other layman. Their conclusions are entirely advisory, and carry no binding weight whatsoever. Try again.

No surprise here scriptures have no authority nor binding weight in the R.C.C..

The myriad recently-invented, man-made non-Catholic sects---like dodge's---corrupted, disregarded, changed, and left the word of God (scriptures) to follow evil men. Nice try, though.

Cruciform, you are too snide and dismissive. Either have normal dialogue and treat other members as equals, or be reported for being so dismissive and link responding, which you have previously been warned about. No one likes your pompous act!

Christians should know some church history. When we do we realize Rome does not own the early church father's. In fact, the early church father's stand as much against the popes empire as Scripture does. For instance, we would learn that purgatory was invented by Gregory the so called great. When we look at his writings we learn that he made no argument for purgatory from Scripture or tradition, like the 2 verses from Paul that Roman Catholics like to cherry pick to prove purgatory. What we do find is that his teaching of purgatory came from visions & dreams.

Purgatory is not too far fetched, for there is a prison/Hell that the unsaved have gone and can still live in their spirits according to Jesus.
