The topic issue:

Finding examples to support the commonality of saying that a daytime or a night time would be envolved with an event when no part of a daytime or no part of a night time could occur. So far none have been provided.

If you think that is the topic, then you are mistaken.

The topic is whether one verse that says "three days and three nights" should be taken as the only authoritative time period despite that being incompatible with other verses that say "on the third day"

genuineoriginal,
re: "The topic is whether one verse that says 'three days and three nights' should be taken as the only authoritative time period despite that being incompatible with other verses that say 'on the third day'"

That's an issue for a different topic. But perhaps someone new looking in may know of examples.

re: "This topic is about whether Jesus lied..."

You must be confusing this topic with a different topic because this one is concerned with only 1 issue, i.e., was it common to forecast or say that a daytime or a night time would be involved with an event when no part of a daytime or no part of a night time could occur?

And that "someone new" needs to be someone who believes the crucifixion took place on the 6th day of the week with a 1st day of the week resurrection, and who thinks that the "heart of the earth" is referring to the tomb, and who tries to explain the lack of a 3rd night by saying that the Messiah was employing common figure of speech/colloquial language of the period.

Nope.

Crucifixion was on a Thursday, because the Friday of that week was a special Sabbath day, followed by the usual Sabbath on Saturday.

with a 1st day of the week resurrection,

Yes, Christ did in fact rise on a Sunday.

and who thinks that the "heart of the earth" is referring to the tomb,

Never heard that one before. "Heart of the earth"?

and who tries to explain the lack of a 3rd night by saying that the Messiah was employing common figure of speech/colloquial language of the period.

Well, considering that Christ rose ON the third day, and not AFTER the third day, and the fact that Christ was crucified and buried on a Thursday, Thursday -> Friday = 1 day, Friday -> Saturday = 2 days, and Christ rose on the morning of Sunday, making it 2.5 days since He was crucified...

That's "on the third day."

JudgeRightly,
re: "Nope".

"Nope" what?

re: "Crucifixion was on a Thursday..."

Then this topic does not apply to you since it is directed to those who believe it took place on the 6th day of the week.

Only thing that happened that 1st day of the week is the tomb is discovered ALREADY empty...He rose the day before...on the Sabbath...

Jonah was NOT dead in the whale but confined...as He was when betrayed by Judas His fate was sealed...and the count began

Not at all...The day/time of His resurrection is also critical as to when the meter runs out...

3 days and nights comes from Jonah...”as Jonah was”...but does it necessarily mean He was dead in the tomb 3x3?...

because Jonah was NOT dead in the whale...

so when does the meter begin?

And as mentioned... end?

Jesus was crucified on a Thursday, and rose on a Sunday. Using the Jewish calendar, that Friday was a High Sabbath. It also means that Jesus was in the tomb for three days and three nights, according to the way Jews counted days.

because Jonah was NOT dead in the whale...

And?

so when does the meter begin?

Thursday.

And as mentioned... end?

Sunday morning, around 0600.

the only thing that happened that first day of the week was a tomb was discovered ALREADY EMPTY...

various accounts included a stone rolling, folded clothes, 1-2 angels...soldiers laying about...

well so being dead for 3 days and 3 nights in the tomb is NO LONGER a qualification of the timing...

Thursday.
ok...many scholars have attempted...even with NASA computing calendars..

Christendom is undecided as to whether or not the last supper was even a Passover meal...

the EAST says NO and serves leavened bread for communion to "this do in remembrance"

and the WEST serves Unleavened bread to "this do in remembrance"...

you would think SOMEBODY remembered..

but we have troubles remembering anything that happened yesterday or last week...let alone 2020ish years ago...much less at Sinai...right? ha

Sunday morning, around 0600.
0600 hours would have it before sunrise that time of year and thus not Sunday but the previous day...Sabbath..."He is risen" remains true but that He rose the day before is NOT celebrated...something about Sunday...

oh and BTW nobody WITNESSED the resurrection itself...His actual rising...

oh and which year do you place this 0600 hour?

ummm...ok...surprised you addressed me at all...

But yes yes...I see you are quite busy here...

maybe later?

Already have...couple times...

since Feb when you posted it...is why was hoping we’d chat...

but busy as you are...

Anyways...your Dr. “honored member of the community” missteps right out of the gate...

and by placing the seventh as the first...MONTHS not days...

(Replacing the seventh day with the first day was done earlier...by another tradition)

God > civil yes?

and even “Rosh Hashanah” the term does not appear in Torah...

To even establish the time of this civil new year rules of postponement from the ecclesiastical calendar have to be used...man his traditions ya know?

“In the Torah the beginning of the year was clearly set at the first of Nisan, in the context of a description of the first Passover. “The Lord said to Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt: This month shall mark for you the beginning of the months; it shall be the first of the months of the year for you” (Exodus 12:1-2). This new year celebrated the creation of the Jewish nation through the redemption of the Israelites from Egypt. Nisan, as the first of the months, coincided with the beginning of Jewish national history. But it is surprising that the Torah made no mention of a new year at 1 Tishrei, which today is so central to the Jewish religious experience.“

https://www.myjewishlearning.com/art...new-years-day/

He then goes on about more Jewish tradition and NOT what is in scripture...

but will keep it short as you are busy elsewhere...

maybe later?

clefty,
re: "Not at all..."

Yes, at all. This topic is about one issue and only one issue:

There are some folks who think that the crucifixion took place on the 6th day of the week with the resurrection taking place on the 1st day of the week. The Messiah said that He would be in the "heart of the earth" for 3 days and 3 nights. Of those who think that the crucifixion took place on the 6th day of the week, there are some who think that the "heart of the earth" is referring to the tomb. However, a 6th day of the week crucifixion/1st day of the week resurrection allows for only 2 nights to be involved with the Messiah's time in the tomb. To account for the lack of a 3rd night, there may be some of those mentioned above who try to explain the lack of a 3rd night by saying that the Messiah was using common figure of speech/colloquial language. And that is the only issue of this topic, i.e., the commonality of saying that a daytime or a night time was forecast or said to be involved with an event when no part of a daytime or no part of a night time could have occurred. I'm simply asking anyone who may fall in the above group of believers to provide actual examples/instances to support the belief of commonality.

re: "The day/time of His resurrection is also critical as to when the meter runs out...so when does the meter begin? And as mentioned... end?"

It is, but not for the purpose of this topic. A new topic should be started to discuss that and any other issues apart from the issue of the commonality of saying that a daytime or a night time would be involved with an event when no part of a daytime or no part of a night time could occur.
