I'm interested in seeing
The Cabin in the Woods.
Also, of course, looking forward to
The Avengers,
The Dark Knight Rises and
The Amazing Spider-Man.
I've gotten all the Marvel movies [and I saw them all in theaters], that lead up to
The Avengers. And I have to two most recent Batman movies, which I also saw in Theaters. I also own the first two Spider-Man movies, and was in the theater for those as well.
I saw the third Spider-Man but I hated it; mostly because it took Peter's biggest motivation to do the right thing away, and tacked on some stupidity to try and rectify it. And that was one of the things from which any adaptation of Spider-Man should never deviate.
There are plenty of movies I didn't get to see in theaters, but would love to still see.
Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, for one. I already saw
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. I had already seen the Swedish versions and read the English translations of the books. I even own the first book.
What gets me down is that there are so many movies coming out that I don't care if I see in theaters. Especially with ticket prices. Does anyone remember when there was barely ever a movie that didn't get you interested in seeing it on the big screen? Even the 3D re-releases aren't making me want to spend my money. However, when they get to the original
Star Wars trilogy I would love to see those on the big screen. I don't even care if they're in 3D.
Harrison Ford and Ben Kingsley have begun filming their parts in the upcoming: Ender's Game movie. If you aren't familiar with the books penned by half the screen writing team for the project's Orson Scott Card and you like a good tale you should get to your local library or bookstore and take care of that.
This Hunger Games (hate the title) looks more and more interesting as the trailers release, but I don't know that much about it.
John Carter appears to be suffering a slump in the states, though it's doing good box office overseas. I think they made a tactical mistake in not using a known commodity for the leads.
So...feel free to discuss anything about the movies you want here.
All three of those are based on books.
Meet Joe Black came on AMC HD the other day. Unbelievably good score to that one and one of my favorites. Has a terrific and complicated love triangle and is well cast all around.
When it first came out I thought it killed itself with a certain scene that happens right near the beginning. An off screen notice of it wouldn't have been as jarring. I spent too much of the film irked by it and settling back into the movie, distracted. The next time I watched it I was surprised by how much I enjoyed the film and the time after that I bought it.
The ping pong scene?
