Did Jesus Abolish the Commandments?

While Jesus was dying on the cross God tore the veil that covered the Holy of Holies from the top to the bottom, Matthew 27:51. This signified the end of the Old Covenant, the law and the Jewish religion.

"Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commmandments contained in the ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace" Ephesians 2:15.

"Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross" Colossians 2:14.

In spite of these two scriptures and many others, some still want to live according to the commandments and the law. I have concluded that those who live by laws, rules and religion don't have faith. If you don't have faith the only thing left is religion and law.

Paul said, "The Just Shall Live By Faith" Romans 1:17. Who are the just? The just are blood bought Christians that believe the Gospel of Jesus Christ. They believe that they have been justified by faith, apart from the commandments, the law and religion.

"But to him that does no works (including law keeping) but believes on him that justifies the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness" Romans 4:5.

Did all of you religious people get that? Faith counts for righteousness, not keeping the commandments that you don't keep anyway. No one can keep the law. The minute that one believes that they can keep the law is the minute that one becomes a hypocrite.

Jesus only blotted out the commandments contained in ordinances.

Only the ordinances were against them, not the covenant which did not change nor was the covenant blotted out. We must abide by God's short covenant since it is our agreement with God.

Did you read the scriptures? You are in conflict with the word of God.

You keep parading Eph. 2:15 out like it's your ace in the hole on your view, but you fail to interpret it correctly, nor take into consideration all the other scriptures that say differently.

He abolished the EMNITY. Do a study on enmity. Peace

Did Jesus Abolish the Commandments?

No

Name one Commandment that is considered not sinful in the New Testament.

That's what I do not understand about people who deny the Commandments. Which one do such people mean to transgress- this must be the reason why people want to shatter those stone slabs

The fact is, the Ten Commandments are the virtues which ALL of the Bible fundamentally upholds. It's not a matter of accepting or not accepting them- they are universal and consistent to God's children for all time.

The emnity is the law. Where there is no law there is no emnity.

The lost are under the law and will be judged by the law, but not Christians. To be under the law is to be under condemnation

Every Commandment is expressed in the New Testament.

The Ten Commandments are not the 'Law', they are the fundamental morals of mankind given by God. There's a difference.

Anything in the Bible that tells you to do something or not to do something is law.

Do you mean like to love God?

Jesus said, "You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind."

Ok, is that a command?

Jesus went on to say, "This is the first and great commandment."

What would compel you to want to abolish God's law which Jesus quoted?

Help me understand something Robert.

Jesus said: “Go, therefore, make disciples of all nations; baptize them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teach them to observe all the commands I gave you.” Mat 28:19-20.

Are you telling me that making disciples by preaching the gospel is law and therefore places the preacher under condemnation?
