Yes, considering that all that were in Asia had already abandoned Paul's doctrine by the mid first century, why should we consider writings of those in the first, second, and third century as of any great value?

Baal worship has been around forever, it is no surprise that it infiltrated "Christianity" early and the Catholics can trace their roots all the way back to it in the first century, after many left Paul's doctrine.

Catholics are funny, staking their eternal destiny on what some "early church fathers" wrote. They can read in their own Bible about the great apostasy of the mid first century.

I also think the RCC's long and sordid history of antisemitism shows just how afraid it was/is of Jewish Christians taking back THEIR faith from the Italians... thereby making Rome irrelevant.
