This should answer things for you. The Lord can visit me because I ALREADY strongly believe in Him, and there is no bias. The Devil can't say, Oh, God, Michael believes in You because you've visited him.
If the Lord visits you, Al, then the Devil can say, Oh, Al didn't believe in You until You visited him. There is bias. The Devil will say to God, "That's not fair! Now Al will never want to follow me, for he knows the truth now."
Do you understand what I'm saying here, or should I explain it more? I would believe already, whether or not He visited me. You won't believe already, if He doesn't visit you. Does that explain it?
Let's say this. A Man asks one man to help Him get home to His house, but the man is too busy and declines. But if that same Man asks one man to help Him home to His House and knows that He will receive a million dollars for doing it, he will help Him home, no matter how busy he is.
It's really kind of hard to explain. Hope this does it.
God doesn't want us to help Him or believe in Him because we will get a million dollars/ paradise for doing it. He instead wants them to help Him or believe in Him just because they Love Him instead. That's how He is. I should not be telling you the secret. He searches the hearts of men to see if they truly love Him or not. And sometimes there are tests, of course. But those who really Love Him, He will find out.

I'm not threatening you on behalf of my God, and He will tell you that He is no monster. I'm trying to help you understand that there is Someone Who is willing to Love you Forever, if You'd Only Choose It. If you don't want it, what can I do? What can God do?? Nothing.
That's all I am willing to say for now, Stu! There are reasons for everyone who doesn't want God in their lives. It's not my job to figure out why.

Well, as it happens, all I ever expect to happen is to live and die, and that will be the end of me. And that shouldn't be any cause of alarm because the universe was around a long time before I was, and will be around a long time after I am gone. The atoms in my body (and yours) have already been through three stars. Here we are, an arrangement of atoms that form the only way the universe can know itself. That alone is amazing enough for me.
So now, you say, there is a monster that wants to burn me in sulfur. That just sounds like cheap trash talk before a boxing match. I think this god of yours is quite trashy.
But the Good News is, Michael, that it's not real. There is no burning sulfur, no judgement by a monster with no ethical rights to do any judging, and no 'eternal life' (whatever that means). If it means that you always exist then it doesn't matter if you never do anything, does it. Everything can be put off until tomorrow. Such an existence is utterly pointless.
No, Michael. There is no choice. You live, and you die. That is all there is to it. There is nothing anyone can do about it, and no one should be trying to do anything about it. We are products of a life cycle set in an ecology that couldn't possibly work any other way. But what a fantastic thing to have been a conscious intelligent being able to explore the thing that made you: the universe and the laws by which it operates.
What you are supposed to do is think. That is what makes you unique as a human in this universe.
