Brit government becoming Nazi-like

Wow!
You are all brave people ..... :)
I don't think 'brave' is the right word. We pray, we put our faith and trust in our Lord and Go.

We go out in our weakness, we are mostly incredibly vulnerable people in the scheme of things. When we Acknowledge our weakness, we have to depend on something more powerful than ourselves. The Holy Spirit and our Lord.
Do you have ministers on Canterbury area?
Is this Canterbury in the US?

Even if there is not a Street Pastor ministry where you are, it takes one person to set things in motion. I know this because I went round the churches in our town talking about it, and seeing if there was any support. Our remit is to care, listen and help if we can. We are an interdenominational ministry, so they ask that we include at least four Christian churches in our town. We pray for each other, we pray for our town and we pray for the people we are about to meet. We don't go out to preach, but if people ask us about God then we respond.

A lady contacted me unexpectedly yesterday, I had met her a number of times over the years. She asked if she could come to church with me, we went this morning and she has asked to come again. People have asked us to pray for them, we have helped people who were going out that night to end their lives. Most of what we do is just going around encouraging kindness, we give out sweets to people of all ages, we give flip flops to girls who can no longer walk in their heels. We engage with and help the homeless. It is really all about striving to be the Good Samaritan. Just about every time we go out, People will thank us for just being there, they respect us and what we do. A number of people have said, we have helped them change their lives. We have to be doing something right.

May the Lord bless you and those you love and care for.
Still didn't answer the question, Pharisee. I can see you're going out of your way to make sure the outside of your cup looks clean but you already threw a dozen curses and insults my direction, so I know you are evil when you pull this Pharisee-like bull-manure.

Are you willing to properly respond or are you afraid of becoming "unclean".

Hello again.....
Yes, I think that people who feel incredibly vulnerable yet who go out in to the World on their missions are very brave.

I saw that you are in the UK, but forgot to say that I am near Canterbury, Kent, UK. :)

I will most certainly look up ascension trust.org.uk to learn more about you all.

Ha..yes, flip flops. I am amazed about how many girls and women have injured heels feet and toes because of high heeled fashion shoes.

And homeless..... I forget how many die during January and February but the number is too high. I used to take a three day training course in London every week and didn't have much to do for two evenings, so in cold months I would take a couple of sleeping bags with me and a bag of saved pound coins and go wandering the streets. I met with some amazing people. So I know that you do too.

A mate of mine works a soup kitchen over Christmas period though New Year. He says that he never knew how wonderful a Christmas could be until he joined that operation.

Violence begets more violence

Not said by Jesus nor mentioned in the Gospels.

I have been a Street Pastor for thirteen years. This ministry was inspired by a minister in Jamaica, a friend of his was shot and killed by a gang of youths. After the funeral, the minister and a few parishioners prayed for these gangs of youths and asked, how can we help them. These unarmed parishioners then went out to engage with these gangs, who were mainly living in poverty and on drugs carrying guns. Over time profound changes started to happen. From this small beginning there are now about fifteen thousand volunteers mostly in the UK, who go out to minister to troubled souls.
Same-old, same-old socialist idiocy. If it doesn't work in a small country, It must work in a larger one. An oh! Did profound things happen!

Things have gotten so good in England, you've had to ban kitchen knives . . .

From this small beginning there are now about fifteen thousand volunteers mostly in the UK, who go out to minister to troubled souls. We wonder the streets of our towns until around four in the morning.
So, 15,000 unemployed people living on the public dole are wandering the streets late at night helping the "troubled" souls. Ever heard about the splinter and the log?

I have been a Street Pastor for thirteen years.
Ever yell on a public street that homosexuality is evil and leads people to hell? No? Something tells me you're one of those silent Street Pastors.

We have risk assessments which say we should walk away and phone the police; we have phones with a direct link to the police.
So, you drink the kool-aid and your religious activity is sponsored by the state.

I can remember the first big drunken fight we saw; a group of about a dozen punching the living daylights out of each other. We have risk assessments which say we should walk away and phone the police; we have phones with a direct link to the police. But we were seeing people getting hurt, we prayed as we walked towards them, I saw one man punched to the ground, another was being kicked whilst on the road. We walked in the middle, all we could do is be a barrier between them, which means there are people in front and some behind who you cannot see. I don't know how it happens, but I experienced a profound sense of peace which is beyond my understanding. The thought of being hurt was not an issue. Somehow we absorb their anger, somehow they soak up our peace.

Gradually the fight calmed and stopped, we stayed with them for a time as tempers cooled. When it came time to leave, we had endless handshakes and hugs; people thanked us. I was in my sixties at the time; my two amazing partners were ladies in their seventies. We know we are the weakest people physically, we have no protective clothes or weapons; we don't do self defence. We know that any one of those people could punch us all out.
So, you saw your first friendly drunken brawl and got a religious experience from it. Not really applicable to violent situations.

We are left with the thought, 'You will never look into the eyes of anyone who does not matter to God'. We look for the good in all people, even if the only thing visible is a bunch of drunken hooligans. If we search for something good, then we have to look for a good and peaceful solution.

Aren't you one of the ones who believes that God randomly chooses people for Heaven and Hell with a cosmic lottery before the world began?

Twice I have been in situations where I have asked someone to hand me their knife; and eventually they handed it over.

I've asked for someone' knife at least a hundred times and they have given it to me. That doesn't seem like a big deal. It must be an English thing I don't understand.

have lost count of the number of conflicts we have walked in the middle of. I can't understand how I have never been hit or hurt in thirteen years.

Easy. You've never been in a real conflict. You're an old man who acts as a the government's tattletale. No divine intervention needed.

In relation to . . . what has already been said

Ignoring what I said in this very thread and dodging the question isn't going to advance this discussion, Eric.

I don't believe he came with the intention. . .

I didn't ask what intentions you don't believe He came with. I asked you what Jesus' purpose was when He did so.

Eric, are you not answering the question because you know that the answer undermines your position?

What was Jesus' purpose in coming to Earth in the flesh?

The answer, whether you choose to listen or not, was to die on the cross.

If he had given the OK o his disciples to, rightfully so, defend Him, Jesus would NOT have been able to go to the cross, thus putting His plan at risk.

Christ wasn't about to do that. Thus He told his disciples to not attack, and healed the soldier's ear.

A lesson can be learned from His actions yes, Eric. But don't forget that His goal was to go to the cross to save mankind. Having His disciples carry weapons was just a means to accomplish His goal, but it still underlines the fact that man has the inherent right to purchase, own, and even use weapons, but not only that, but TO BE SMART when using them, something you don't seem to grasp.

The lesson to be learned by the events in Gethsemane is not that weapons are bad and shouldn't be used, but that weapons have a place and a purpose, and should be used when necessary.

They are always looking for volunteers. Here is a four minute video about Canterbury Street Pastors, I think it is a good insight into what we strive to do. Thanks for your interest, you can always ask to go out as an observer with no commitments to sign up to anything. You would have to enquire about our role now due to Covid and the pubs being shut. Our towns are very subdued to what they were last year. Some ministries have felt the need to suspend patrolling through these testing times.

We do go out at our own risk and you would wear a high vis jacket saying observer. I am amazed that I have never been hurt in thirteen years, not all Street pastors will get involved in conflicts, it is our own choice to go where we feel called.

Anyone notice how far this thread has been taken away from the nazification of the UK? Think that was by accident?

The British Home Secretary is telling Brits to inform on anyone they see breaking rules. This is just what the Nazi's did under Hitler. The Germans were turned into a bunch of sheep who informed on anyone they saw that they thought might be doing something wrong.

It just goes to show all the coronavirus nonsense is about creating totalitarianism. They are creating a whole nation of people so fearful that they spying on each other.

Home Secretary Patel is very right-wing in the Conservative Party. She has indeed been accused of bullying permanent secretaries etc and the countries' Head Civil Servant Resigned/retired last year because of her conduct.

Most in our Conservative Government are moderates but there are some real right-wingers.

What are you thren? A Left winger, or a bit like Home Secretary Patel..... on the far right ........ where the Nazis were?

What a laugh.

The entire British government is left-wing. I have no doubt that from your perspective, some of the people in your government appear right wing or conservative, and others left wing. But from my position ON the right, you're all a bunch of leftists.

on the far right ........ where the Nazis were?

Sorry, but no. The "National Socialist German Workers" party was a left-wing party, from the perspective of someone on the right, because socialism (yes, even all socialism) is a left wing concept.

You may not like being associated with them, but they were very much left wing.

Well at least you had a pleasant chuckle.
Your post causes me to wonder where our Labour Party might fit in to your assessment of 'all being a bunch of leftists'.

How ever did your Republican Government manage with us, I wonder?

From https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Labour_Party_(UK):

The Labour Party is a centre-left political party in the United Kingdom that has been described as an alliance of social democrats, democratic socialists and trade unionists. In all general elections since 1922, Labour has been either the governing party or the Official Opposition.

Yup. Still a bunch of leftists, and perhaps far left, at that.

How ever did your Republican Government manage with us, I wonder?

No idea what you're talking about.

Ha ha! So our Labour party is a centre left party, eh?
Now, where would you like to place our Conservative party, not to the left of Labour, surely.

You seem to have strange ideas about our political spectrum, I'm afraid.

Old Etonian Boris, a lefty, and Patel a lefty. That's my turn to chuckle now. :D

From a Biblical worldview, your political spectrum is all on the left hand side of the wider spectrum of what is right and wrong.

Don't worry, most governments' political spectrums are, too. (With one or two exceptions)

You don't get it. The wiki entry is correct, Labour is Centre Left.

The Conservatives are to the right of Labour and most are very rightwing. So how you want to fit conservatives in to the Left is a touch difficult.

Biblical Worldview.??
Where do you think that Moses or Jesus fitted in.? I gotta hear this.

A--------|---------B------------------C
______x

Above is a graph of what is right and wrong, with what is right on the right, and what is wrong on the left.

Your political spectrum, in its entirety, sits at a point somewhere between A and B.

My point of view is of the entire spectrum, because I sit at C, on the right.

Biblical Worldview.??
Where do you think that Moses or Jesus fitted in.? I gotta hear this.

At C, on the graph above.
