Somali American U.S. citizen arrested by immigration agents, detained for two days

A U.S.-born Somali American woman said she was forcibly arrested and detained by immigration officials for two days amid the Trump administration’s crackdown in Minnesota. . . .
With bandages still covering scrapes on her forehead, Nasra Ahmed, 23, spoke about her arrest at a news conference at the Minnesota Capitol on Jan. 21. She said immigration agents stopped her in her neighborhood and asked for her identification.
Ahmed said they then used a racial slur and pushed and detained her, leaving her with body aches and a concussion.
Asked for comment on Ahmed’s arrest, a Department of Homeland Security spokesperson implied she had assaulted law enforcement, though they did not provide any detail or evidence to support the claim.
That ICE/DHS tactic is a feature, not a bug, which is why so many of their charges don't hold up in court. See D.C.:
That statistic is "shocking," he wrote, compared with the 0.5% of cases charged by criminal complaint that the government dismissed in the district over the past decade.

After Cosplay ICE Barbie comes Cosplay CBP Ken:

In a humiliating courtroom defeat for the government—and setback for Trump’s deportation drive—U.S. District Judge Sara Ellis said Border Patrol commander Gregory Bovino had repeatedly lied to the court, only coming clean when the evidence meant he couldn’t continue to do so. . . . specifically his claim that he was hit in the head with a rock before he lobbed gas at protesters—saying he “later admitted that he lied” after DHS failed to provide any evidence to support its claim.

White House posts digitally altered image of woman arrested after ICE protest

Guardian analysis shows images are the same, with Nekima Levy Armstrong looking composed in original but sobbing after alteration

The White House posted a digitally altered image of a woman who was arrested on Thursday in a case touted by the US attorney general, Pam Bondi, to make it seem as if she was dramatically crying, a Guardian analysis of the image has found.
The woman, Nekima Levy Armstrong, also appears to have darker skin in the altered image.

The discredited, deceptively editing, and successfully litigated-against Project Veritas? 😂

What the "consular official" said: (there's a longer clip available than you posted)

"Latin Americans are all leftist"

"All the good, honest, hardworking Mexicans stay in Mexico and all the pieces of garbage come into the United States"

Yeah, I don't believe for a minute he spoke for the Biden administration regarding immigration. But those above comments are racist, so I have no doubt about the intent.

Why is that racist?

Racism is seeing one race or ethnicity or nation as superior. The only real racists are Black Americans (many of them), Jews (many of them), and then all of Europe and most every other country without exception. White Southern racists and white supremacists are racist trace contamination in the World. Every European nation is racist nationalist. Every single one of them; there's no exception. We are compared to the whole rest of the World the ONLY example of a non-racist country or state. There is no close second place.

A lot of what I could have addressed here has played out already, and several facts have come to light that expose just how evil the position Anna is taking is.

No. I'll do it when I decide to do it.

Meaning.... Never, right? At least not with any honest intentions to find out exactly what they say and why it might be a problem? Be honest!

It was. And the man they arrested after breaking into his house without a warrant isn't "filth" and is a citizen.

This is what you're ignoring.

ICE goes to arrest violent sexual predators here in the country illegally.
Find man at address they had used.
He matches the description of someone they're looking for.
He refuses to provide ID.
They detain him, until they can identify him.

He could have made things way easier on himself had he simply identified himself.

Instead, he refused to, and got dragged out into the cold in his skivvies.

What an idiot.

4th Amendment prohibits unreasonable searches and seizures.

They had reason to be there and to suspect that the people they were looking for lived there. This is what gets them in without a warrant.

The man who actually lived there wasn't compliant. So they detained him. And they didn't have time to potentially allow the people they were looking for to escape, so he get's pulled from the house in his skivvies.

And like I said, this ALL could have been avoided had he identified himself.

It's not tone policing to say that the way you talk about immigrants dehumanizes them. It's stating a fact.

When they act like leeches and contribute nothing but negatives, then it's not dehumanizing to call them leeches.

Just like we prohibit namecalling without cause, but not namecalling as a whole, because it's a good thing to stigmatize bad behavior.

If anything, they've dehumanized themselves by acting uncivilized.

This changes nothing. Whether you agree or disagree, VA has the right to work out their own legislation at the state level.

That's something you don't seem to understand.

It's quite literally not a matter of "like or dislike."
They're effectively legalizing what should be a crime! It's WRONG!

"Removing minimum penalties" means they don't get punished for the crime.

The Tenth Amendment:

The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.

Missing the point.

This doesn't have anything at all to do with the current control of the federal government by MAGA. The federal buck stops with MAGA.

Maga is like a chihuahua hiding behind the fence gate, all bark, but no bite.

It's reminiscent of Hitler calling the Jews rats.

Jews were frequently represented as a pestilent species like rats or cockroaches in Germany as the Nazi party rose to power. Der Stürmer, a weekly newspaper notorious for its virulent antisemitism, depicted a Nazi gassing Jewish 'rats' huddled around the base of a tree in one cover image from as early as 1927. "When the vermin are dead," the caption said, "the German oak will flourish once more.
The Nazis were not the first to use comparisons with rats to dehumanise targets. In 1909, the US satirical magazine Puck published a cartoon that depicted European immigrants arriving in New York City as a swarm of rodents. As recently as 2015, the Daily Mail ran a cartoon that showed refugees arriving in Europe from the Middle East and North Africa, with rats scurrying alongside them.

Reductio ad Hitlerum is a fallacy, Anna. Shame on you.

Even if animal/parasitic metaphors have been used in propaganda historically, it doesn’t follow that my claim is equivalent to Nazi dehumanization or that my policy conclusion is wrong. Those require an argument about my criteria, evidence, and proposed enforcement, not an association.

These illegals are taking American jobs away from hard-working Americans, and then sending the money home overseas to their families in the third-world dung-holes they came from. They are leeching off of us, thus they can rightly be called leeches. And it says nothing about their humanity.

I don't like the term MAGAts used by some progressives for the same reason.

Leftards use terms like "MAGAts" to dehumanize MAGA supporters and people who agree with MAGA, because they hate them, and it serves as a dog-whistle to call for others to attack them as well.

I use the term "Leech" because it describes an undesirable behavior.

We are not the same.

Why are you concerned about non-assimilation?

How does it affect your life?

Why does it make you angry?

Have you considered it's a narrative pushed by xenophobes that has little basis in fact, but is useful for fomenting outrage on social media?

My X page is full of the answers to your questions.

Are you brave enough to look?

Rape gangs, violent criminals, atrocious behavior.

No, their food is not worth putting up with their behavior for it.

And yes, it's a small thing, but I should never call an American company and hear "press 1 for English, press 2 for Spanish."

When I was on the road, I would constantly see signs put up at shippers having important things written out in 12 different languages because too many truck drivers (they don't deserve to be called "truckers") these days can't even speak English, let alone read it. That has implications far beyond what you seem capable of comprehending.

Do you go through your days angry because you don't think immigrants are properly assimilating to your satisfaction?

I'm far past being angry, Anna.

The nation I as an American was born in and grew up in has been overrun by foreigners who have no intention of ever becoming American.

You're not addressing my position with this article.

My position is not, "foreigners don't integrate or assimilate."

My position is, "the people who are here illegally, and those who willfully refuse to integrate, should be removed from our country."

That is what ICE is for. That is what ICE is doing.

Take a look again at the Tenth Amendment for where the federal government ends and the state government begins.

Missing the point.

Absolutely. That's exactly what they've been doing! Step outside the radical right bubble.

Really? The best republicans can seem to do is send "strongly worded letters."

I want the federal government to adhere to the Constitution with its powers and its limitations of powers.

We've tried that. It only ends in the left gaining more power.

I want to federal government to wield the power it holds to crush the enemies in this country who want to destroy it from within.

We are not the same.

I sound like a patriot and you sound like a radical.

You're evil. Your opinion is invalid.

What does "destroy the left" mean to you in practice, really? Who is "the left?" Do they have the same constitutional rights that you claim for yourself? If you say no, then you really ought to move to Belarus or Hungary, you'd be happier there.

All humans have the same rights as all others, until they try to take away those rights from others, at which point they forfeit those rights until they have been appropriately punished.

You don't live in VA. Why in the world are you so incensed about their legislative process? Because the population of VA elected Democratic representatives? Isn't that their right?

Because I live in America, and Virginia is part of America, and when liberal states start removing penalties for crimes, and preventing law enforcement from enforcing the law, I know that eventually, the rest of the nation will follow.

I looked at those bills. There's no way you or I could process all the legislative language of those bills well enough to have a knowledgable discussion of them just by looking at that post.

Yes, that's the point of legalese.

The purpose of a system is what it does.

If the system makes it extremely difficult for the lay person to read and easily understand, that's the purpose.

Try applying your mind. Read them, and think about how those laws could be used against the right.

You were drawn by the clickbait headline:

Democrats take absolute power in Virginia and the first thing they do is introduce the “Legalize Crime”, “Steal All Future Elections”, and “Duplicate Somali Daycare Fraud” Acts.

Nothing "clickbait"ey about it.

That's what they do.

First of all, "take absolute power" means Democrats won their elections in the state of Virginia. It's that simple. But the content generator needed a scary headline and "take absolute power" just sounds so much more scary than a Democratic woman decisively won the race for governor, doesn't it?

It means "disallow anyone else from taking over through elections by allowing means that other parties won't use out of principle." Like ballot stuffing, "glitches" that prevent voting for certain disliked candidates, and the like.

Second, "Legalize crime, steal all future elections, and duplicate Somali Daycare Fraud Acts?" Really?

You clearly have no idea what's going on, do you?

That's so unserious, JR. It's social media churn.

It's reality.

WAKE UP, Anna.

I'd take a serious article looking at the pros and cons, and give credit or criticism where it's due. Not all legislation is good legislation. That goes for both sides of the aisle. Find me serious arguments for and against, and I'll look at them even though I'm absolutely not interested at the moment in Virginia politics and I'm bemused as to why you are.

I just did.

So no, I will not spend time on an X poster who's horrified that the birth rate is higher in Africa than it is here.

It should concern you.

But that's typical for leftists, never considering third- and fourth-order consequences of things.

You can do better. I hope you will someday. I really do.

Look in the mirror, Anna.

The cruelty is the point.

HILARIOUS!

You really think bluesky is going to present things honestly?

It's a left-wing social media site made literally because they didn't like Musk taking over and allowing free speech on X.

He was probably harassing the ICE agents trying to do their jobs, and crossed the line, and then got sprayed because he wouldn't comply with their legal commands.

Love it!

Update as of finishing out this post, the video of what happened has been posted, and guess what! I WAS RIGHT!

The cruelty is the point.

Is he "filth," @JudgeRightly?

His father clearly is, since he abandoned his son to run away from ICE...

Marc Prokosch, an attorney representing the family, said the family had an active asylum case and shared paperwork showing the father and son had arrived to the US at a port of entry, meaning an official crossing point.
“The family did everything they were supposed to in accordance with how the rules have been set out,” he said. “They did not come here illegally. They are not criminals.” He said there was no order of deportation against them and he believes the father and son have remained together in detention.

They're lying to you.

The man ran and abandoned his son.

But sure, just believe whatever the leftist media tell you, because orange man and his cronies bad.

What was it you were quoting earlier?

""The party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command . . . .
And if all others accepted the lie which the Party imposed-if all records told the same tale-then the lie passed into history..."
--1984"

Reminder: the "Party" in that book was leftist, not on the right.

I'll believe the school superintendent over ICE, who can't be trusted.

Liam Ramos, a preschooler, and his father were taken into custody while in their driveway, the superintendent of the school district in Columbia Heights, a Minneapolis suburb, said at a press conference on Wednesday. Liam, who had recently turned five, is one of four children in the school district who have been detained by federal immigration agents during the Trump administration’s enforcement surge in the region over the last two weeks, the district said.
Liam and his father had just arrived home when they were detained, according to Zena Stenvik, the superintendent, who said she drove to the home when she learned of the detentions.
When she arrived, Stenvik said the father’s car was still running and the father and son had already been apprehended. An agent had taken Liam out of the car, led the boy to his front door and directed him to knock on the door asking to be let in, “in order to see if anyone else was home – essentially using a five-year-old as bait”, the superintendent said in a statement.
Stenvik said another adult living in the home was outside during the encounter and had pleaded to take care of Liam so the boy could avoid detention, but was denied. Liam’s older brother, a middle schooler, came home 20 minutes later to find his father and brother missing, Stenvik said. Two school principals from the district also arrived at the home to offer support.
Again: Is the little boy "filth," @JudgeRightly?

You'll believe the words of a leftist because it paints Trump and ICE as the bad guys. And you really hate them.

"The party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command . . . .
And if all others accepted the lie which the Party imposed-if all records told the same tale-then the lie passed into history..."
