Anna - do you have any concerns at all about Harris's position on abortion, especially late term abortion?

It's interesting how blatant hypocrites like yourself, who care nothing for preserving the lives of others when it comes to the simple act of wearing a mask during a pandemic, would suddenly wax sanctimonious about a politically charged issue like abortion. Republicans sure do love their single-issue voters. And it's easy for such voters to vote based on a single issue, because there is no thinking required. All they have to do is pretend to be against abortion, and just pay lip service to it, and the lemmings will vote accordingly. That's you all over.

You've triggered him into his eleventy-millionth lament that you're not using the ignore feature the way he wants you to. :chuckle:

Poor little guy. He doesn't seem to understand that the ignore feature is at poster discretion, that it doesn't disable his posts when quoted or that it's my prerogative to comment on it when that happens if I choose.

Then again, if the guy brags about getting behind the wheel of a car when drunk then it's hardly surprising.

Most women who get abortions are Christians, and a significant number of them attend church regularly.

All the churches have glass walls, and no one in them seems to notice.

Here's a link for you. It's a heavily footnoted paper on abortions and the numbers of women who get them.
i knew since you claim it's Christian women who get most of them your claim had to be a distortion of reality.

In America today, the average black woman is almost five times more likely to have an abortion than the average white woman.1 Part of this disparity owes to the fact that, statistically, black women get pregnant more frequently than white women,2 but even if we control for pregnancy, black babies are still more than three-and-a-half times more likely to be aborted than their white counterparts.3 No matter what your opinion of abortion, the fact that it disproportionality eliminates members of the minority community is a significant sociological problem.

Here’s what it looks like by the numbers. According to the latest census estimates, just over 13% of the U.S. population is black,4 and yet somewhere between 28-38% of all U.S. abortions are performed on black babies. The Guttmacher Institute puts that number at 28%, based on voluntary 2014 survey data from 8,380 respondents.5 The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) places the number at 38%, based on actual counts of every 2016 abortion performed in the 30 states/districts that collect and report abortion data by race.6 By comparison, non-Hispanic white women make up 60% of the population but account for only 35-39% of all abortions.7

Among black women, the current abortion ratio is 401.8 That means there are 401 abortions for every 1,000 live births. Statistically, 29% of black pregnancies end in abortion (excluding miscarriages). Among white women, the abortion ratio is 109—which means less than 10% of white pregnancies end in abortion.9 The current abortion rate among black women, which is the number of abortions per 1,000 women of reproductive age is 25.1.10 That means that in 2016, 2.5% of black women, aged 15-44, had an abortion. By comparison, only 0.67% of white women of reproductive age had an abortion that year.11

In 2018, approximately 2,400 human beings lost their lives to abortion each day in the United States.12 On average, 19% were Hispanic, 38% were black, and 35% were white.13 That translates to approximately 456 Hispanic children, 912 black children, and 840 white children. Though the white population in the U.S. outnumbers the black population by more than four to one,14 abortion kills more black children each day than it does white children. In fact, abortion claims virtually the same number of black lives each year in the United States as all other causes combined.15

Here is a link to the CDC's website on abortion surveillance. It supports the above article statisically. In fact almost all of the statistics in the above article are straight from the CDC. The rest are from Gutenmacher Institute as the CDC and Gutenmacher are the only two orgs that report abortion statistics.

So, as usual you are distorting reality. Not surprising coming from you. As blacks only make up 13% of the population they have a much higher abortion rate than whites do. Blacks abort their babies at a 29% of total total pregnancies whereas white women do so at a 0.67% rate of total pregnancies. That makes abortion much less common among whites than among blacks. And the only way you can say most abortions are among Christians is to assume all white women are Christians. They are not. Meaning your entire assertion is false.

The Democratic Party has had a stranglehold on black votes (and to a slightly lessor extent Latino votes) for a very long time. The Democratic Party and neo-liberals in general do basically nothing for them. And both Black people and Latinos know this to be true. It's truly bizarre to be honest. Granted, the so called neo-conservatives don't really offer any counterweight of ideas and substance that would attract Black and Latinos plus they have an image problem. But ask a Black person or a Latino about "white liberals" or "white allies" and they will tell you how racist, dishonest, and arrogant they can be.

Back in college I worked in the cafeteria dishroom. My boss was a Black man from Mississippi named Blaine. We became friends over time. I learned so much from him about Black people. We had dozens and dozens of talks about race, politics, etc. He was a very wise man. He shared all sorts of stories growing up in the South facing terrible racism (he was born in 1962). He shared stories about his parents and grandparents going up against the KKK. Right after graduating from high school he moved to California by himself to start a new life. He eventually ended up at the university I attended. Anyway, one time at work we were talking about life in California and I mentioned that life must have been better for him in California because there were far fewer racist white people in California (This was when I was a liberal and thought CA was "great" LOL). Blaine just looked at me and laughed. He told me that these so called liberals in California are just as racist as the White southerners her grew up with. He said the following (I'm paraphrasing a bit):

"I respect the Southern White man on a certain level. He's honest and blunt. If he doesn't like me he'll tell me to my face, "Ni---- I don't like you! I don't want to be your friend." At least I know where I stand with him. But here in California? These liberal white folk call me friend to my face but call me ni---- behind my back! F--- them."

I still remember Blaine telling me this even 30+ years later. Two of his younger brothers moved to CA as well and they both told me the the same thing. They all told me just because someone says they are an "ally" doesn't mean they really are an ally. Back in the 1960's Malcolm X made the same observation. He said the difference between White liberals and White conservatives is that the liberal is more deceitful and hypocritical.

I've heard similar from black co-workers over the years as well, in Northern/Western Upstate NY - co-workers I counted as friends, people I helped when they moved, people I helped when they had more beer than they knew what to do with ;)

Abortion policy is just one of several areas in which California senator Kamala Harris, Joe Biden’s running mate, has sworn to abuse executive power to assert her preferences if Congress won’t legislate as she’d like. Her authoritarian instincts were frightening when she was running for president herself, and they’re hardly any less frightening now that, if she and Biden are elected, she will be just one crisis away from the presidency.

Several of my colleagues have already detailed many of the issueswith Harris, but let me add another: She is without question the most radically pro-abortion candidate to run for president or vice president in the history of our country.

Basically, she's pushing for a national version of the bill that Cuomo signed into law last year authorizing abortions up to the point of delivery if a doctor can verify that the woman's health, including her mental health, would be harmed by a continuation of the pregnancy.

In other words, a pregnancy can be terminated up to the point of delivery if a doctor will say that the woman will suffer depression or anxiety if she has another child.

Cuomo and Harris are OK with killing this child, five minutes before this pic was taken

70% of Women Who Get Abortions Identify as Christians, Survey Finds
Over 40 percent of women who have had an abortion say they were frequent churchgoers at the time they ended their pregnancies and about a half of them say they kept their abortions hidden from church members, new LifeWay Research shows.

In a survey released Monday that was sponsored by the pregnancy center support organization Care Net, researchers from the Christian research group LifeWay found that about 70 percent of women who had an abortion self-identified as Christians, while 43 percent say they attended a Christian church at least once per month or more at the time they aborted their child.

The survey, which interviewed 1,038 respondents who've all had abortions, found that 20 percent of the respondents attended church at least once a week at the time of their first pregnancy termination. Six percent said they attended church more than once per week, while about 54 percent said they rarely or never attended a church.

Okay, so I've posted that link before, this isn't news to some people here. Here's the thing though, after wading through your usual ad homs, I came across to that sentence in red. What do you even mean by that?

Uh - none of that matches to the survey in the link you gave.

For you? No. It's not possible to have a meaningful discussion with you.

A convenient way to squirm out of addressing the fact that you are supporting the most pro-abort candidate for the presidency or vice presidency who has ever run.

Uh - none of that matches to the survey in the link you gave.

For instance:

"Indicate their religious preference is Christian" =/= "identify as Christians" =/= "ARE Christians"

Close to half of them are Papists, for example, which largely precludes the "ARE Christians" category
