Do we need a topic of the day?

No.... it doesn't cost anything extra.

I just was curious to see if you guys like it or not.

I like it and think the Topic of the Day fosters new discussions versus the usual topics that have become a pattern of sorts. If this is becoming a chore for you perhaps you might consider nominating a ToD author on a daily basis to spread the effort around. A suggested protocol would be that the author must be an active subscribing member, too. Yet another perk for the paying members.

It's a neat feature. I'd say better with it than without it.

And it doesn't have to be a topic of the week or a new topic of the day every day. If the topic is hot, then it can be the topic of many days.

I'd leave it as is.
