Britain wasn't stoning people to death for being gay, getting divorced, owning pornography or having affairs in the 50's and 60's. There were still areas where racial segregation was tolerated and like the US, things progressed and draconian attitudes were dispensed with. Where it comes to abortion then that was going on long before the 50's along with the rest also. Reason with the latter is what's needed if you really actually care.
