Christians across the globe were inspired by Bishop Michael Curry’s message about love during the royal wedding Saturday, but many of those same Christians then debated whether his views on gay marriage and LGBT issues should matter.
In 2015 he was installed as presiding bishop of the Episcopal Church, becoming the first African-American leader of the predominately white denomination. But before that, as a bishop in North Carolina, he was “one of the first to allow same-sex marriages to be performed in churches there,” The Washington Post reported.
When the Anglican Communion penalized the Episcopal Church for its stance on gay marriage, Curry drew parallels between the struggles of African Americans and of those in the LBGT community.
“I stand before you as a descendant of African slaves, stolen from their native land, enslaved in a bitter bondage, and then even after emancipation, segregated and excluded in church and society. And this conjures that up again, and brings pain,” he said at the time.
On Twitter over the weekend, Christians and others debated whether Curry’s stance on gay marriage should matter.
“Fascinating that so many Christians who are against LGBT people are lauding Michael Curry, a priest who openly marries gay people and welcomes them in. Lack of fact-checking or just choosing not to see?” wrote one person, Siân Duffin (@Siannie81).
‏Robin Self (@triplejaymom), wrote, “For those praising Bishop Michael Curry for bringing the royals ‘to church,’ as a bishop in the Episcopal church, he is pro abortion, blesses gay marriage, and is highly active in the social justice movement. About as ANTI-Church as you can get.”

Not a matter of being impressed. Fumento said all that needed said in '93. His basic case was watertight then and it still is. There's really nothing more than need be said.

MassReistance =/= the book you're mentioning. I can judge their effectiveness apart from it, and I've long (before I got here) judged them as good. I'd vote for Scott if I could.

A 25 year old book talking about how HIV/AIDS is a homosexual disease is only part of the truth that needs to be told.


Could you imagine the impact this book would have on the LGBTQ movement if the mainstream media and other sources (the US government, etc.) shared the contents with the public?

Supreme Court cases to watch as term nears end

The Supreme Court is nearing the busiest part of its term, which usually ends in June, when it normally issues some of its most significant decisions.

Here are some cases to watch in the coming weeks.
Freedom of religion or discrimination?
In Masterpiece Cakeshop, Ltd. v. Colorado Civil Rights Commission the court will decide if a Colorado baker has a constitutional right to deny service to a gay couple because of his religious beliefs.
The owner of a bakery called Masterpiece Cakeshop, Jack Phillips, told a gay couple in 2012 that he would not sell them a wedding cake because he does not design cakes for gay weddings.
The couple filed a complaint with the Colorado Civil Rights Commission arguing that Phillips violated Colorado law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation.

State courts agreed with the couple but Phillips has appealed the decision, saying that baking is a form of artistic expression, and that if he were compelled to bake a cake for a gay couple, it would violate his First Amendment right to freedom of religion.
The Trump Justice Department has sided with Phillips in the case, arguing that because of the symbolism a wedding cake has as part of marriage ceremony, it constitutes an artistic expression that should be protected as freedom of speech.
The case has also drawn attention from dozens of First Amendment, religious freedom, and LGBTQ advocacy groups who have filed amicus briefs arguing on behalf of both sides.
The court’s decision in this case could have implications for freedom of speech and anti-discrimination laws alike because the justices will have to rule, not only on whether a wedding cake is protected speech, but on how states should enforce anti-discrimination laws that could be seen as infringing on speech.

Freedom of speech (via "artistic expression") isn't anywhere close to freedom of religion. I'd pointed out numerous times in Part 4 that since homosexuality is legal and since homosexual so-called 'marriage' is as well (Donald Trump has said that Obergefell v Hodges is "settled law"), that there is no way that the ruling will go in favor of religious liberty.
