I suspect he created it for people to dicuss their view of God and the Bible!
I also suspect he found the other, similar forums, lacking in some way, and hoped to do a better job, and improve upon them in some ways.
An even better question to ask him is: Now that TOL is, what it is, has it met, or exceeded; or diverged positively, or negatively from his expectations?
