when I gamble I try to think about my share of the light bill
and
use that to limit the amount that I might lose

No. The disciples chose a replacement for Judas by 'casting lots' after all.

That wasn't really "gambling." More just a way to make something random. Gambling is about wagering stakes on an outcome.

Aside, I play a lot of poker.

It goes like this....

I walk from table to table in the casino. I analyze the scoreboard on each table that displays the numbers that have recently hit. I wait until I find a table that has had at least 7 or 8 reds or black number in a row i.e., a streak of similar colors all in a row. I then bet on the opposite color knowing that color streak cannot last forever. If my bet fails and it comes up a red yet again, I double my bet until the other color eventually comes up.

This is the basic premise of the MIT students getting booted from blackjack. The law of large numbers is what they call it.

I like 7 card stud. I like it because you can see all but two. I like hold'em as well, but not as much thanks to Moneymaker getting lucky.

Yes, it's wrong.

"...Because it denies the reality of God’s sovereignty (by affirming the existence of luck or chance)
Because it is built on irresponsible stewardship (tempting people to throw away their money)
Because it erodes a biblical work ethic (by demeaning and displacing hard work as the proper means for one’s livelihood)
Because it is driven by the sin of covetousness (tempting people to give in to their greed)
Because it is built on the exploitation of others (often taking advantage of poor people who think they can gain instant wealth)" Full text: Five Reasons Gambling Is Wrong Grace to You

Of course not.

I like to play Poker. Mostly Texas Hold 'Em.

My strategy is to play smart; don't bluff.

Also, don't fold if it isn't going to cost you anything.

And don't keep betting just because it's possible you'll get the card you need; you will eventually lose everything.

Gambling is a choice and those who actively participate in this perverted sin and social evil should all be arrested and executed by the state. :hammer:

Poe's Law might need to be applied here btw.
