They are appealing to feminist schoolmarm Karens. They're trying to agitate them. This is not journalism. And this is above-the-fold, as you can see. Top headline, appealing to schoolmarm feminist Karens. There's no news here. This does not matter. It only matters in a Fake and Gay narrative, which is what the NYT deals in; a Fake and Gay narrative is their stock in trade.
