God's omnipresence......

God's omnipresence......

If you are looking for the Father, you have already found him.

Its a matter or 're-cognition' of the already present One. Indeed 'God' is omnipresent in 'spirit' and 'consciousness'.

Below comes from a treatise summarizing the religious insights and truths shared from the various religious traditions of our world. These below touch on God's omnipresence from Paper 131, 'The World's Religions'.

Under the heading of 'Cynicism'

131:1.5 “God pours rain upon the earth, he causes the sun to shine upon the sprouting grain, and he gives us the abundant harvest of the good things of this life and eternal salvation in the world to come. Our God enjoys great authority; his name is Excellent and his nature is unfathomable. When you are sick, it is the Most High who heals you. God is full of goodness toward all men; we have no friend like the Most High. His mercy fills all places and his goodness encompasses all souls. The Most High is changeless; and he is our helper in every time of need. Wherever you turn to pray, there is the face of the Most High and the open ear of our God. You may hide yourself from men, but not from God. God is not a great distance from us; he is omnipresent. God fills all places and lives in the heart of the man who fears his holy name. Creation is in the Creator and the Creator in his creation. We search for the Most High and then find him in our hearts. You go in quest of a dear friend, and then you discover him within your soul.

Under the heading of 'Hinduism' -

131:4.3 God is the sure refuge of every good man when in need; the Immortal One cares for all mankind. God’s salvation is strong and his kindness is gracious. He is a loving protector, a blessed defender. Says the Lord: ‘I dwell within their own souls as a lamp of wisdom. I am the splendor of the splendid and the goodness of the good. Where two or three gather together, there am I also.’ The creature cannot escape the presence of the Creator. The Lord even counts the ceaseless winking of every mortal’s eyes; and we worship this divine Being as our inseparable companion. He is all-prevailing, bountiful, omnipresent, and infinitely kind. The Lord is our ruler, shelter, and supreme controller, and his primeval spirit dwells within the mortal soul. The Eternal Witness to vice and virtue dwells within man’s heart. Let us long meditate on the adorable and divine Vivifier; let his spirit fully direct our thoughts. From this unreal world lead us to the real! From darkness lead us to the light! From death guide us to immortality!*

* Here the prayer has reflections from the traditional Gayatri Mantra.

There is also the UB's teaching on the 'Thought-adjuster' which indwell human souls, which is a fragment of the infinite God in man.

One can not be seperate from that which is omnipresent, yet one's awareness of such can be temporarily obscured from them.

Christ didn't just come along when Jesus is said to have walked the earth, Jesus (one of many) was a metaphor of Christ the inward man, Acts 9:5, Romans 7:21-22. This encounter was literal or vision?

They may have some literal people and events weaved into the stories.
I don't think the cross was a literal one anymore, but something that happens within our skull 1Cor 2:16, not on some hill called skull, At least in my fact finding tour I haven't really found any reason or need to take it as being a literal event anymore. Encounter's or confrontation with Christ happens within Gods kingdom Acts 17:24, Luke 17:20-21, in a temple not made with hands, Galatians 4:6, 5:17, John 20:21, Outside that inner kingdom man is blinded by Spiritual Encounters Acts 9:7-8. Yea I like Joseph Campbell as well.

The sign of Pisces that is, be ye fishers of men John 21:6, now we are told to go see the man with the pitcher of water Luke 22:10, Romans 7:24, hopefully this is about to happen in this age because this creation is certainly groaning Romans 8:21-22.

It certainly resembles, and copies a lot from past cultures hermetic teachings, it's a universal teaching taught by sages and shamans over the ages.

Exactly that the literal Jesus story invented by the Priest and King Class caused it, or?

It's a good thing we can't learn anything from you! If we were, we'd
have to swallow a lot of baloney!

The Second Isaiah

(1068.1) 97:7.1 The destruction of the Hebrew nation and their captivity in Mesopotamia would have proved of great benefit to their expanding theology had it not been for the determined action of their priesthood. Their nation had fallen before the armies of Babylon, and their nationalistic Yahweh had suffered from the international preachments of the spiritual leaders.

It was resentment of the loss of their national god that led the Jewish priests to go to such lengths in the invention of fables and the multiplication of miraculous appearing events in Hebrew history in an effort to restore the Jews as the chosen people of even the new and expanded idea of an internationalized God of all nations.

(1068.2) 97:7.2 During the captivity the Jews were much influenced by Babylonian traditions and legends, although it should be noted that they unfailingly improved the moral tone and spiritual significance of the Chaldean stories which they adopted, notwithstanding that they invariably distorted these legends to reflect honor and glory upon the ancestry and history of Israel.

(1068.3) 97:7.3 These Hebrew priests and scribes had a single idea in their minds, and that was the rehabilitation of the Jewish nation, the glorification of Hebrew traditions, and the exaltation of their racial history. If there is resentment of the fact that these priests have fastened their erroneous ideas upon such a large part of the Occidental world, it should be remembered that they did not intentionally do this; they did not claim to be writing by inspiration; they made no profession to be writing a sacred book. They were merely preparing a textbook designed to bolster up the dwindling courage of their fellows in captivity. They were definitely aiming at improving the national spirit and morale of their compatriots. It remained for later-day men to assemble these and other writings into a guide book of supposedly infallible teachings.

Following from my former post here,....let us continue learning the abstracts collected by Ganid on the world religions extant during the 1st century, which reflect the fundamental 'mono-theism' preached by missionaries of Machiventa Melchizedek whose teachings spread far and wide. The following video is a verbatim audio-version of Paper 131: World Religions - this represents a wonderful compendium of central religious truth principles and values, reflected in the various faith-traditions of the world at that time.

The 10 chapter-headings include -

3. Buddhism
4. Hinduism
5. Zoroastrianism
6. Suduanism (Jainism)
7. Shinto

Hi Charity,

It wasn’t until the 1800's AD that scholars began to analyze the bible without the Christian church burning them at the stake. The Priest class has long been a corrupt political and business institution as well as a percentage of sincere men living in fearful dread of God.

Have you ever looked into the actual dates of the OT? The redactions and edits?

Anyway, the Urantia revelation began in 1911 perhaps timed to coincide with the unraveling of the Biblical fetish, the book worship sponsored by the RCC. As you know the UB contains facts that had not yet been discovered by science until after the book was published. We continue to find evidence that validates the claims that were unheard of at the time.

I place my faith in the spirit of God, not the fetish of the man made scripture. Proud, idolatrous scripture worshipers rejected the truth in Jesus because they could not be intellectually honest.

The books of the Bible do not claim divine authorship, the controlling church does. And after the church molests the people with their manipulative fear, the abused then turn and try that on others.

Jesus talked with Nathaniel about the truth about the scriptures in private. http://www.urantia.org/urantia-book-standardized/paper-159-decapolis-tour#U159_4_0

Cano,

I read the link, one can see how the common man would be attracted to this more approachable Jesus. But as you know the Holy Catholic church has been perfect in accordance with God, each council and major decision that is. The church was inspired when it finalized the cannon list, apart from errors in translation there is not imperfection. The spirit moved the pens of the authors, even what may appear to be an error is a divine error intended to sort out the ungodly.

This section is most disturbing,

(1768.1) 159:4.5 “Nathaniel, never permit yourself for one moment to believe the Scripture records which tell you that the God of love directed your forefathers to go forth in battle to slay all their enemies — men, women, and children. Such records are the words of men, not very holy men, and they are not the word of God. The Scriptures always have, and always will, reflect the intellectual, moral, and spiritual status of those who create them. Have you not noted that the concepts of Yahweh grow in beauty and glory as the prophets make their records from Samuel to Isaiah? And you should remember that the Scriptures are intended for religious instruction and spiritual guidance. They are not the works of either historians or philosophers.

(1768.2) 159:4.6 “The thing most deplorable is not merely this erroneous idea of the absolute perfection of the Scripture record and the infallibility of its teachings, but rather the confusing misinterpretation of these sacred writings by the tradition-enslaved scribes and Pharisees at Jerusalem. And now will they employ both the doctrine of the inspiration of the Scriptures and their misinterpretations thereof in their determined effort to withstand these newer teachings of the gospel of the kingdom. Nathaniel, never forget, the Father does not limit the revelation of truth to any one generation or to any one people. Many earnest seekers after the truth have been, and will continue to be, confused and disheartened by these doctrines of the perfection of the Scriptures.

If you do not repent of your teaching of the goodness of an indiscriminately loving God, you will be cast in the lake of fire, plagues and bugs will eat your entrails, a great curse will fall upon you, you may be run over repeatedly by a taxi cab. Beware!!!!!

I dont see any proof or reason to 'assume' the RCC and all its doctrinal formulating and creed-making was done 'perfectly' or free of 'human error' or 'manipulation'. The historical records reveal more fumbles than anything as church councils within certain socio-political constraints did their best to 'finalize' their doctrine as 'orthodox', more of a power-play using a religious front. No one organization or human institution has a monopoly on truth, much less an infinite 'God'.

Could you specify what is disturbing, beyond it challenging certain religious presumptions and dogmatic beliefs about religous writings, which have been influenced and distorted by human personalities and agendas. The truth is a living spiritual dynamic, illuminating the soul, and is not confined or limited to any written word or human formulation. - the UB claims to be an updated revelation and expansion of religious knowledge and teaching within a great cosmological context of man's evolutionary ascent Godward. Newer presentations of truth will naturally update, clarify or modify previous information or assumptions bringing greater comprehension to various subject-fields.

If you do not repent of your teaching of the goodness of an indiscriminately loving God, you will be cast in the lake of fire, plagues and bugs will eat your entrails, a great curse will fall upon you, you may be run over repeatedly by a taxi cab. Beware!!!!!

This is most absurd if not comical, based on former misconceptions or presumptions.

The Bible teaches that God creates both good and evil. the wicked will be punished in his great displeasure. Satan may sometimes do Gods will to trick Gods children and teach them a lesson. It doesn't matter that man disagrees with the inspired word, it is dangerous for man to think for himself because man was born in sin, his own common sense is distorted and evil.

No one can add to the Bible or they will have the plagues added to them and they will be removed from the tree of life. With modern technology the saints may all have microwave ovens now.

Alot of assumptions there. We treat those issues elsewhere.

It is only dangerous for man to think for himself if he is not guided by true inspiration, logic, reason and common sense, but otherwise it is 'essential' for man to THINK FOR HIMSELF. - otherwise you deny the principle of self-responsibility and are subject to the delusions of exterior forces or assumed 'authorities'.

No one can add to the Bible or they will have the plagues added to them and they will be removed from the tree of life.

Note that this only applies to the book of Revelation,....within that context. This book barely made it into the canon and was rejected by some early church authorities for being too 'cryptic'. Also, not all religious writings are to be interpreted 'literally'.

With modern technology the saints may all have microwave ovens now.

Well isn't that wonderful...but not sure how this relates to the subject at hand.

Reading the entire thread or familiarizing yourself with the UB might be recommended here...the purpose of the dialogue.

Evolution of Justice

(794.13) 70:10.1 Natural justice is a man-made theory; it is not a reality. In nature, justice is purely theoretic, wholly a fiction. Nature provides but one kind of justice — inevitable conformity of results to causes.

(794.14) 70:10.2 Justice, as conceived by man, means getting one’s rights and has, therefore, been a matter of progressive evolution. The concept of justice may well be constitutive in a spirit-endowed mind, but it does not spring full-fledgedly into existence on the worlds of space.

(794.15) 70:10.3 Primitive man assigned all phenomena to a person. In case of death the savage asked, not what killed him, but who? Accidental murder was not therefore recognized, and in the punishment of crime the motive of the criminal was wholly disregarded; judgment was rendered in accordance with the injury done.

(795.1) 70:10.4 In the earliest primitive society public opinion operated directly; officers of law were not needed. There was no privacy in primitive life. A man’s neighbors were responsible for his conduct; therefore their right to pry into his personal affairs. Society was regulated on the theory that the group membership should have an interest in, and some degree of control over, the behavior of each individual.

(795.2) 70:10.5 It was very early believed that ghosts administered justice through the medicine men and priests; this constituted these orders the first crime detectors and officers of the law. Their early methods of detecting crime consisted in conducting ordeals of poison, fire, and pain. These savage ordeals were nothing more than crude techniques of arbitration; they did not necessarily settle a dispute justly. For example: When poison was administered, if the accused vomited, he was innocent.

(795.3) 70:10.6 The Old Testament records one of these ordeals, a marital guilt test: If a man suspected his wife of being untrue to him, he took her to the priest and stated his suspicions, after which the priest would prepare a concoction consisting of holy water and sweepings from the temple floor. After due ceremony, including threatening curses, the accused wife was made to drink the nasty potion. If she was guilty, “the water that causes the curse shall enter into her and become bitter, and her belly shall swell, and her thighs shall rot, and the woman shall be accursed among her people.” If, by any chance, any woman could quaff this filthy draught and not show symptoms of physical illness, she was acquitted of the charges made by her jealous husband.

(795.4) 70:10.7 These atrocious methods of crime detection were practiced by almost all the evolving tribes at one time or another. Dueling is a modern survival of the trial by ordeal.

(795.5) 70:10.8 It is not to be wondered that the Hebrews and other semicivilized tribes practiced such primitive techniques of justice administration three thousand years ago, but it is most amazing that thinking men would subsequently retain such a relic of barbarism within the pages of a collection of sacred writings. Reflective thinking should make it clear that no divine being ever gave mortal man such unfair instructions regarding the detection and adjudication of suspected marital unfaithfulness.

Institutional Religion

(1092.1) 99:6.1 "Sectarianism is a disease of institutional religion, and dogmatism is an enslavement of the spiritual nature. It is far better to have a religion without a church than a church without religion. The religious turmoil of the twentieth century does not, in and of itself, betoken spiritual decadence. Confusion goes before growth as well as before destruction.

(1092.2) 99:6.2 There is a real purpose in the socialization of religion. It is the purpose of group religious activities to dramatize the loyalties of religion; to magnify the lures of truth, beauty, and goodness; to foster the attractions of supreme values; to enhance the service of unselfish fellowship; to glorify the potentials of family life; to promote religious education; to provide wise counsel and spiritual guidance; and to encourage group worship. And all live religions encourage human friendship, conserve morality, promote neighborhood welfare, and facilitate the spread of the essential gospel of their respective messages of eternal salvation.

(1092.3) 99:6.3 But as religion becomes institutionalized, its power for good is curtailed, while the possibilities for evil are greatly multiplied. The dangers of formalized religion are: fixation of beliefs and crystallization of sentiments; accumulation of vested interests with increase of secularization; tendency to standardize and fossilize truth; diversion of religion from the service of God to the service of the church; inclination of leaders to become administrators instead of ministers; tendency to form sects and competitive divisions; establishment of oppressive ecclesiastical authority; creation of the aristocratic “chosen-people” attitude; fostering of false and exaggerated ideas of sacredness; the routinizing of religion and the petrification of worship; tendency to venerate the past while ignoring present demands; failure to make up-to-date interpretations of religion; entanglement with functions of secular institutions; it creates the evil discrimination of religious castes; it becomes an intolerant judge of orthodoxy; it fails to hold the interest of adventurous youth and gradually loses the saving message of the gospel of eternal salvation.

(1092.4) 99:6.4 Formal religion restrains men in their personal spiritual activities instead of releasing them for heightened service as kingdom builders." UB 1955
