Correct. That's my point.

The guy who designed the flag for the Confederacy tells us that it was a symbol of the white mans supremacy over the black man.

You guys won't even listen to the guy (Thompson) who designed the flag.

The flag stood for racism.
It's just another variation of the same stars and stripes motif America used through history.

Once again, let's look at what the guy who designed the flag had to say about it:

How can you read the above, and not conclude that the intent of the flag was to symbolize racial hatred?

How can that be your point when the KKK uses that symbol for racism?

No one looks at a cross and thinks racism.

Go into any black church in America and you will find a cross. However, you won't find a Confederate Flag.

You guys act like this is some big conspiracy theory by black people.

The Confederate Flag is offensive to EVERY black person in this country. Why is that not good enough for you?

It's also worth pointing out Thompson was not some dyed-in-the-wool native of Dixie--he was from Ohio, for crying out loud. Not like the flag was designed by some deep south born and raised good old boy; that would be almost to be expected. No. The flag was designed by a white supremacist without a native's instinctive pride (though he was a transplanted southerner by choice).

What pride Thomson did have was tribal racism.

No, the cross is not a symbol of hatred.

Yes it is, just as STP says. It's also the ultimate symbol of reproach, shame, justice, judgment and death. It is only a thing of beauty to those saved by Christ, and then only because it and His tomb are empty. To frivolously wear one today as mere jewelry is an insult to Christ. Worn like that, it's as tasteless and stupid as wearing a miniature electric chair around one's neck. The meaning is the same. And to wear, use or adore a crucifix is, imo, blasphemous.

No, that would be you.

You're the one defending a flag rooted in Democrats, and put in place by Democrats.

Nope. Democrats disowned that flag decades ago. It is now embraced by people who support states rights, which is good, and that completely separate from whatever slavery meaning has been superimposed upon it, which is also good.

Remember: Democrats actually supported slavery, then segregation, and as a party they still support both. That flag no longer has any connection with them.

The biblical prohibition on gay sex is offensive to every single gay person in this country, should we rip it out of the bible?

Loads of different things are offensive to loads of different people - next they will want some states to change their state flags too.

Alabama:

Whats next, getting rid of the south altogether since its offensive to some people?

Yeppers.
Maybe you missed it the other dozen times I mentioned that the Confederate flag was another variation of the American flag motif used.

Any physical similarity is completely incidental. The rebel and U.S. flags represent different ideals, different principles, different ideologies, different hopes, and completely different countries. That the colors used happen to be the same is totally irrelevant. That's like saying we're actually still a British colony because the Union Jack and the Stars and Stripes are both red white and blue.

Different things mean different things to different people.
