Do you consider that Sunday was a Sabbath?
NO!
Fri 6pm to Sat 6p was God's Sabbath...Sunday was first day of the week, not the seventh.
DUH!
True and He did not. We agree
What day do you claim Jesus arrived in Jerusalem? Which day of Nisan, and which day of the week?
And yes, it matters, so I expect an answer to this.
Now your calling those you don't agree with names as well???
No, I'm calling you names because you're being an irrational idiot.
What condradicts scripture?
The claim that Jesus rose on the fourth day.
This statement does not make any sense? Why could it not have bee n the year 32 AD?
Because it doesn't fit the timing of the narrative presented by scripture.
"
In B.C.. 445
the new moon by which the Passover was regulated was on the 13th of March
at 7h. 9m. A. M.[3] And accordingly the 1st Nisan may be assigned to the
14th March.
The statement of St. Luke is explicit and unequivocal, that our Lord's
public ministry began in the fifteenth year of Tiberius Caesar. It is equally
clear that it began shortly before the Passover, The date of it can thus be fixed
as between August A.D. 28 and April A.D. 29. The Passover of the
crucifixion therefore was in A.D. 32, when Christ was betrayed on the night
of the Paschal Supper, and put to death on the day of the Paschal Feast.?" (The Coming Prince, Sir Robert Anderson)
No idea who he is, but there's a good chance he's wrong.
Start with scripture, not the doctrines of men.
Oh Yes there is,,,Mat 12:40.."For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth."
That says nothing nor requires a "full three days and three nights."
It just says "three days and three nights."
Do you not understand the difference?
Now your saying 2.5 days instead of three days and nights. to me that is a full day unless you want to go down the path those coveting the Friday crucifixion do..Get three days and three nights from Friday to Sunday morning.
No, I've BEEN saying 2.5 days.
Why?
Because 2.5 days is three days and three nights, as I've shown. If it was any longer than 3 days, then Scripture would have said "four days and three nights," or it would have said "three days and four nights."
But it does not. It says "three days and three nights" and "on the third day."
2.5 days is two days and two nights + one day (partial) + one night (half of a 24-hour period). 2.5 days = 60 hours (plus a few hours before sunrise on Sunday) = less than 72 hours. The math works out just fine for BOTH "three days and three nights" AND "on the third day." Your position does not.
"Three days and three nights" and "on the third day" works with and ONLY WITH a Thursday Crucifixion:
8 Nisan - Friday - Jesus arrives in Bethany, 6 days before the Passover.
9 Nisan - Saturday - Jesus spends the Sabbath in Bethany.
10 Nisan - Sunday - Jesus arrives in Jerusalem - Israel chooses their passover lambs, as per Exodus 12.
11-13 Nisan - Monday-Wednesday - Jesus questioned by the Jews - Examination of the lambs by Israel for any blemishes.
13 Nisan - Wednesday night (14 Nisan - Thursday evening) - Jesus and the disciples have the Last Supper, Jesus tells Judas to do what he's going to do, and quickly, Judas leaves to fetch the Pharisees, Jesus and the disciples go to Gethsemane, the Pharisees arrest Jesus - Israel turns over their lambs for inspection to the Priests.
14 Nisan (sometime before dawn) Thursday - Peter denies Christ three times.
14 Nisan (after dawn) - Jesus is questioned by Herod and Pontius Pilate, beaten and flogged, Pilate washes his hands of Jesus, frees Barabbas, and sentences Jesus to death - Israel continues preparing the lambs for slaughter.
14 Nisan (third hour) - Jesus is put on the cross.
14 Nisan (ninth hour) - Jesus gives up His Spirit, and dies - Israel slaughters the passover lambs.
14 Nisan (by the twelfth hour) - Joseph of Arimathea offers his tomb for Jesus' body to be buried in, and His body is prepared as much as possible and laid in the tomb - The first day that Jesus is dead (which only lasts for a few hours, but is the first day in the tomb, as it wasn't "evening" until after sunset, at a specific point). "There was evening and there was morning, the first day."
15 Nisan - Thursday night (Friday evening, Friday morning, and the following daytime hours) to the twelfth hour of the day - High Sabbath, Feast of Unleavened Bread begins - First night Jesus is in the tomb and second day. "There was evening and there was morning, the second day."
16 Nisan - Friday night (Saturday evening, Saturday morning, and the following daytime hours) to the twelfth hour of the day - Regular weekly sabbath, a day of rest begins - second night and second day. "There was evening, and there was morning, the third day."
17 Nisan - Saturday night (Sunday evening, Sunday morning, and the following daytime hours) to sometime before dawn - Beginning of the Feast of Firstfruits - The stone is rolled away from the entrance of the tomb, Jesus rises - the third night Jesus was dead.
Thus, "three days and three nights."
Thursday afternoon to Sunday morning before dawn is "Three days and three nights." Sunday morning resurrection is "On the third day."
Wednesday afternoon to Sunday morning before dawn is four days and three nights, no matter how you look at it, which makes a Sunday resurrection "on the fourth day," in direct contradiction of Scripture.
If Jesus was crucified Wednesday and rose "on the third day," then Jesus would have risen on Saturday before dawn. Problem with that is that the women would not have been able to go to the tomb site on a sabbath, as it was a day of rest, nor does the timing work with the Feast of Firstfruits.
If Jesus was crucified Friday and rose "on the third day," then He would have risen on a Monday before dawn. That doesn't work either because it doesn't align with the Feast of Firstfruits.
If as YOU claim, Jesus was crucified Wednesday, but rose on Sunday, you've now added an entire extra day and night to the sequence of events, making it "four days and four nights," in contradiction of Jesus Himself.
No, Wednesday crucifixion doesn't work at all, for multiple reasons.
Have you never read the Gospels?
Are you not aware that they tell a story, that they present a narrative?
These are prophecies..Do you think that GOD is going to not obey His own word?
God's timing was perfect. Jesus was chosen as the Passover lamb on 10 Nisan, examined for blemishes by the Jews, turned over to the Priesthood for inspection, was lead as a sheep to the slaughter, yet was silent, was crucified on Passover, was in the grave for two sabbath days, and rose on the feast of firstfruits.
That only works with a Thursday crucifixion. It does not work with Him being crucified on any other day of the week.
I guess we will have to agree to disagree...We are very close...
I hate when people say "we'll just have to agree to disagree."
It's a clear sign that you aren't hungry enough to determine what the truth of a matter is, and it shows you to be a coward, looking for a way out of a discussion that you KNOW you're losing, but aren't willing to give up your position on.
Wed 6pm-Thurs 6pm= arrived at Bethany Cal Day=Thursday, 8th of Nisan 32 AD
Arriving in Bethany on Thursday, 6 days before the Passover, would put the day Jesus arrived in Jerusalem on Saturday.
Again: Jesus, being a law-abiding Jew, would not have traveled ANYWHERE on a Sabbath.
Which means now you have to have Him arrive in Jerusalem on Friday (which contradicts "Palm Sunday", which you have not established any sort of reasoning for Jesus to have not arrived on Sunday) OR you have to say that Jesus stayed TWO FULL DAYS in Bethany, Friday AND the sabbath, Saturday, before arriving in Jerusalem on Sunday, which would work exept for the fact that the whole idea adds an extra day and night to the amount of time Jesus is in the tomb, contradicting the narrative of scripture.
Thur 6p-Fri 6P=1st day, 9th of Nisan, Calendar Day = Friday
Except that 10 Nisan is the day Israel was to have chosen their passover lambs. According to you, that would have been a Sabbath day. So that's out.
Friday 6p - Sat 6p = Sabbath 10th 2nd Day; Saturday
Go read Exodus 12.
Saturday 6p - Sun 6p = 11th 3rd day; Sunday
Sun 6P-Mon6p = 12th, 4th day; Monday
Mon 6p-Tues 6P= 13th of Nisan, 5th day; Tuesday
Tues6p - Wed 6p = 14th of Nisan, 6th day; Wednesday; Crucified around 9th hour or 3PM.
Wed 6p- Thurs 6p - 15th, Unleavened Bread Feast, High Sabbath 1st day/night in the grave; Thursday (lasting 7 days)
Thurs 6p - Fri 6p - 16th, of Nisan, 2nd day/night in the grave ; Friday
Fri 6pm - Sat 6pm - 17th of Nisan, 3rd Day/night in the grave ; Saturday/Sabbath
Sat 6pm - Sun 6pm -18th Day of Nisan, sometime during 6pm to 6am, Jesus Arose from the grave. Feast of First Fruits
NONE of this works, because it has Jesus dead and/or in the tomb for four days and four nights, in direct contradiction of scripture saying He rose ON the third day, NEVER "after the third day."
Mark 9:31 states directly: "And after He is killed, He will rise the third day."
Luke 24:46 states directly: "Thus it is written, and thus it was necessary for the Christ . . . to rise from the dead the third day".
Acts 10:40 states directly: "Him God raised up on the third day".
1 Corinthians 15:4 states directly: "and that He was buried, and that He rose again
the third day according to the Scriptures".
You CANNOT IGNORE THESE PASSAGES.
Your position is in direct contradiction to scripture, because it has Jesus rising on the fourth day (or fourth night, however you want to look at it).
