And yet here you are posting in it.

I believe that the reason that musterion started this is because there are some who:
  • Claim that repent means "stop sinning"
  • That to "get saved" and "stay saved" a person must "repent" based on that ridiculously wrong definition of repent.

Yep :thumb:

Romans 5:6 For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. 5:7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. 5:9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. 5:10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.

How do you EVER get that those scriptures mean we don't have to repent of our sins?

Jesus died for the UNGODLY GENTILES means they did not have to repent of their sins before he would save them? NO. They did not have to get circumcised before he would save them.

We are justified by his blood when we come to him and ask for forgiveness of those SINS HE DIED FOR.

The Gentiles were ENEMIES because they did not obey God and do the ceremonial works and justify themselves by cleaning themselves by atoning for their sins with the blood of animals.

The Jews atoned for their sins and were known by God, the Gentiles were the ungodly enemies.

The poll question confuses the issue. The sinner comes to the conclusion that he cannot stop sinning, which is why he needs saving.
This option is the correct one, and needs adding to the poll. The person who's wondering if he has to stop sinning in order to be saved, has not yet come under conviction of where his sin has placed him (eternal death row).

The thing that you both are missing is that Jesus tells us how to get to the point of being able to repent of your sins. As for you saying no one can stop any sins without being saved is just a downright untruth.

Danoh loves Romans 5, but he needs to hop into Romans 6, particularly verses 17 - 23.

You're confusing the act of sin with the nature of sin. You need to look up, and do a quick study of harmatology.

James 2:10 For whoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one point, he is guilty of all.

If God is going to hold you guilty of breaking every command, even if you haven't broken every command, it makes no difference if you do not commit acts of sin outside of Christ, because you'll be held guilty regardless. It isn't the act that condemns you, it's the nature inherited in Adam. For in Adam all die.

And THAT is the obedience of Faith. It's the work of God as we are persuaded by the Gospel to believe.

We can't add our own efforts to His work on the cross.

The obedience of faith IS FAITH and OBEDIENCE.

It is never ever wrong to obey Jesus' words.

Yes it does mean exactly that. If you stop obeying, you go to hell. That means as long as you keep obeying, you'll go to heaven. God can't save you without your help, is your gospel.

Jesus warns us to obey.
He is patient and merciful.
You are distorting the truth.

You already admitted that God can't save you all by Himself.

Don't you care about the truth? Show were I have said that.

I say it all the time that Jesus saves us all on his own.

Jesus saves us all on his own and you have to do what he says because he saves those who are obedient.

We have to continue to obey his words because his words are food.

If you keep obeying, you go to heaven. But only if you keep obeying.

You're keeping yourself out of hell, even though you are never honest enough to admit it.

People can fall away from Jesus see Galatians 5:4; 1 Corinthians 10:12; 2 Peter 3:17. We are warned not to drift away, Hebrews 2:1, not to draw back, Hebrews 10:38; to hold on and stand firm, Hebrews 3:14, 1 Corinthians 15:2, 2 Thessalonians 2:15. We are told how not to fall, 2 Peter 1:10, how not to be hardened, Hebrews 3:8,13.

God can throw people out, Matthew 22:13, blot people out, Exodus 32:32-33, remove your lampstand, Revelation 2:5, sign you a place with unbelievers, Luke 12:46, and cut you off, Romans 11:19-21. We can become defiled, Hebrews 12:15. Our lamps can burn out, Matthew 25:8. We can cause ourselves to have to have Christ formed in us again, Galatians 4:19.

We are told how to remain in Jesus, John 6:56, and if we do Jesus will remain in us, John 15:4. Jesus tells us of the good if we remain in him, John 15:5, and of the bad when we do not, John 15:6. Jesus exhorts us to remain in him, John 15:9, 10, Acts 14:22, and 1 John 2:24.

Why are we warned to obey if we really don't have to obey? Why does Jesus tell us hot to remain in him if we don't have to do anything?
