Public schools, a different view

You know how despicable they are. They are ungodly and immoral and tell lies. They are an indoctrination institution. We know this.

Here is another angle. It is just another program for redistributing wealth. They tax people and pay others independent of any education. Pensions are guaranteed and always go up. This is why they keep needing these increases in the budget when the school had no increases in budget.

You are paying their existence. Just like welfare, social security, medicare, and now obamacare.

Yes. Public school teachers, the administration, all the pensions, are a huge racket. A bloated industry. It would be better to keep those taxes and work out schooling privately.

And still yet, IF the actual concern is reallllly about children, public schools are necessary. They are there for the benefit of children whose parents feel an education is not necessary.

Incentive for public service. For teaching children? Disgusting. Shocking. What is this world coming to?

How do you figure? It clearly hurts the children as shown by the huge decay in American ability against other countries. We used to be great. Not anymore.

Besides, being told that faggotry is a good thing and those opposed are evil homophobes is not a good thing to do to a child.

What is your recommendation for kids who's parents can't afford private schools if there are no public schools?

Yet many good people work in the public school system, my pastor's wife being one of them as a elementary school teacher. I know an ultra conservative pastor of a local church who is on the school board of his local public school district. I help out at nearby public school as a mentor.

I'll soon show how the US public schools were once biblically based in another thread (and then the going got tough and so-called 'Christians' did what they do best: ran from a fight).

Thank God that not all Christians have abandoned our youth!

Well, at least one of the right wing Christians on this forum is brave enough to admit their fight against the educational system is really about preserving the old ruling class and it's culture.

LOL...sorry Quincy, but your fellow LGBTQ'ers haven't taken total control of our public school system, thanks to vigilante Christians like my pastor's wife, the pastor on the local school board and millions more like them. (BTW, there is only one kind of Christian: those who believe in God and His Word as seen in Holy Scripture).

I had to go through an extensive background check before I was allowed to serve as a mentor in my public school district.

I guess that pretty much rules out any Libertarians like yourself mentoring children ey Quinc?

Which other countries are you talking about?

What are their great school systems like? They must not use public school, right? Or do they?

The tax dollars that go to the public school should go the private. Don't you think? Taxation without services? Is that right or fair? Liberals, which you are, oppose it because then the wealth does not transfer to them. They don't give a damn about the kids' education. They want that money.

Spare me your story of your uncle that was a great school teacher. He probably was.

Which other countries are you talking about?

Should I google that for you?

I expect idiot answers from shagster, not you.

Here is the second hit on google.

While U.S. teenagers were average in reading and science, their scores were below average in math, compared to 64 other countries and economies that participated in the 2012 Program for International Student Assessment, or PISA. That pattern has not changed much since the PISA test was first given in 2000.

What are their great school systems like? They must not use public school, right? Or do they?

Nah. English speaking private schools are the best in non-America countries.

Do those countries public schools use the school system for wealth transfer (socialism)?

One reason U.S. test scores are always abysmal when compared to almost all other industrialized nations (and even some that aren't) is because we include in our overall scores the types of students those other nations either don't test or don't even allow in school. The reason we do this is FAPE and IDEA, among others.

I am in no way defending or mitigating the many ills of public schools, but this is a fact that lots of people don't realize. If this particular deck were stacked more fairly, we'd look better than we do. But the underlying problems would still be there.

It *clearly* shows no such thing. That is your interpretation. The alternative is no education for children whose parent's cannot afford to send them to private schools.

Besides, being told that faggotry is a good thing and those opposed are evil homophobes is not a good thing to do to a child.

You are making things up. Again. There is a zero tolerance policy towards bullying. That means it is not permissible for children to use homosexual slurs and bantering as their means of taunting others.

Do those other countries that are better than us use privately funded education?

Countries with the best educational systems in the world by 2014 rank

1. South Korea
2. Japan
3. Singapore
4. Hong Kong
5. Finland
6. UK
7. Canada
8. Netherlands
9. Ireland
10. Poland

Considering the amount of private funding of education in the USA, we might argue privatization is actually hurting schools.

Conservative logic: Demand all fertilized eggs be born, then are incensed they're asked to educate (and feed) the resulting children.

Only a sexual pervert would say teaching sodomy is ok. And that black people are poor because white people hold them back.

The alternative is no education for children whose parent's cannot afford to send them to private schools.

Give them the voucher for the property taxes they paid.
