The passage is one of the key places where 'kingdom' is an unfortunate translation. The word is 'reign' as in the verb--the action of reigning. There are a hundred places where the reign of Christ is present and underway. Any Bible student should be able to pick up rather quickly that there is no attempt at all to set up a restored theocratic Judaism at the time, nor in the future.

There are some events like the Trans and the Ascension that are more obvious indications. The apostles quoted Ps 110 over and over about the Res because it is the 'award ceremony' of Christ, honoring him for his work in the Gospel. The unity of the church (the incoming of the nations) is the indication to 'principalities' of the victory of Christ, Eph 3.
