President Trump tests positive for COVID-19

So should health care workers not bother with them? I mean if they are ineffective then why bother, even in a hospital setting??

Well, of course they should bother with them. Care workers have been let down all over the place with a shortage of PPE during this pandemic, masks included.

And another brilliant Trump idea...

Donald Trump suggested wearing a Superman T-shirt that would be revealed when he ripped open his shirt as he left hospital last week, according to a report.
The president was said to have proposed the stunt for leaving the Walter Reed Medical Centre after spending three days there with coronavirus.
According to The New York Times, Mr Trump suggested he initially appear frail when leaving the military medical centre. But underneath his suit shirt would be a T-shirt emblazoned with the superhero.

He reportedly planned on pulling open his shirt to reveal the Superman top as a show of strength after being admitted as an inpatient with Covid-19.
The idea, which the NYT said was raised by Mr Trump during several phone calls from the hospital’s presidential suite, was later dropped.

Superman was trending on Twitter after the report surfaced and the proposal was widely ridiculed by political pundits and critics of the president. “Whenever I think Trump can’t do something more ridiculous, he proves me wrong,” tweeted Renato Mariotti, a former federal prosecutor.

It's been hard. Because Trump had agents out there, intercepting and seizing shipments of PPE to hospitals, they were driven to smuggling the needed equipment to protect their people. The Trump organization saw scarcity as a way make a little profit, and he used the government as his enforcers.

Despite reassurances from the federal government that they’ve worked to properly supply medical institutions with life-saving personal protective equipment (PPE), hospital administrators across the country have been forced to take extraordinary measures to avoid having their PPE purchases seized by federal agents for re-distribution.

In Illinois, Gov J.B Pritzker (D) reportedly arranged for secret private charter jet to import millions of masks and gloves from China in order to avoid the administration’s efforts to confiscate desperately needed PPE, the
Chicago Sun-Times reported. The invoices, which totaled $888,275, were listed as “aircraft charter flight to Shanghai, China for COVID-19 response.”

“Around the time that we had our 3 million masks that we had ordered through BJs confiscated in the port of New York, at that point it became pretty clear to us that using what I would describe as sort of a ‘traditional approach to this’ wasn’t going to work,” Gov. Charlie Baker (R)
said earlier in April.

In a
letter posted Friday to the New England Journal of Medicine, Dr. Andrew Artenstein, the chief physician executive of Baystate Health in Massachusetts, wrote about the measures his hospital took to ensure their shipment of PPE.

After paying five-times the normal price for a shipment of KN95 respirator masks from China, he and four others met a dealer at a small airport “in the mid-Atlantic region,” where they executed their plan.

“Two semi-trailer trucks, cleverly marked as food-service vehicles, met us at the warehouse. When fully loaded, the trucks would take two distinct routes back to Massachusetts to minimize the chances that their contents would be detained or redirected,” Artenstein wrote:

Sounds like something you see happening in Russia, doesn't it? The fact that seizing needed PPE for hospital workers put them all at risk was of no concern to Trump. There was money to be made, or possible political leverage in punishing local officials if they were critical of Trump.
