I just got the news today. My Dad and his business partner have been in negotiations with an Indian tribe for the purposes of building and operating a marijuana growing operation on the reservation. They are on board and gave the go ahead today. This was my Dad's idea and plan although he has no money to invest. His partner is already approved for 3 million from his bank, but they think they will need 5 million. They have already talked to a builder that specializes in building grow operations and he expressed serious interest in investing in this, so that's an option for more finances.

My Dad & partner don't smoke pot and never have, his partner is the money man and my Dad is the idea man. I'm a little excited for my parents and I hope this all works out. Who knows, maybe I'll work there, LOL. Marijuana is now legal in in many states and Indian reservations are like their own nation with many advantages.

My Dad lost his house in housing debacle ten years ago, so I'm rooting for him. He's been living with my Mom since then, they are divorced.
I'm in pretty sad financial shape myself so wish us luck !!!!

My Dad and his business partner have been in negotiations with an Indian tribe in southern Nevada for the purposes of building and operating a marijuana growing operation on the reservation. The experienced builder asked if it was in northern or southern Nevada and said if you get one in the south you're "golden"

My Dad & partner don't smoke pot and never have, his partner is the money man and my Dad is the idea man. I'm a little excited for my parents and I hope this all works out. Who knows, if it's successful maybe I will move to Vegas and retire, LOL. Marijuana is now legal in Nevada and Indian reservations are like their own nation with many advantages.

I know a lot of growers. Once they hire someone that knows the in's and out's of the plant, it can be profitable. I'm not sure how it will go with Jeff Sessions as AG, but it's pretty well in place in so many states. Here in Oregon, the state is trying to get as much money as they can out of the growers, and so many people grow under the table that the price has gone way down.

That's what I just read on the web. This might not be a good idea. I googled "profitability of marijuana grow operations" and found some disheartening results. I need to tell them that they have to be on the cutting edge of technology and making profit. Thanks for your input glory, I just logged back in to close this thread but you encouraged me to leave it open a bit. I figured everybody would look down on my Dad.

Well, there would be someone to look down on others no matter what they did for a living. Don't drive a cab because of the carbon footprint. Don't open a day care because parents should be watching their own kids. Don't go in the military because they kill. Don't be a pastor in "that" church. Don't open a casino because it's filled with heathen. Oh, and don't work for any big corporation because they are evil.

I'm sure they'll look at all the possibilities before they invest. :)

I've had so many friends die from the effects of drugs. We all started on dope or grass.

I don't trust in luck and I don't wish blessings on evil enterprise. The evil perpetrated will eventually be returned (as you sow etc) to the perpetrators and the enterprise will fail to satisfy any needs or desires. Evil and sin make promises that are never, ever kept...

My deepest and sincere sorrow.

i wonder if there'd be any interest in starting a "investing in sin-based companies" thread - that could cover the sort of mom and pop enterprise pj's talking about here, to brewing companies, to the military-industrial complex, to hollywood, to tobacco...

let your imagination run wild

 how could we work homo's into it?

If you think for a minute that it was easy for me to write my post then think again. As I was typing I knew that it would be taken the wrong way, misunderstood or simply wouldn't scratch ears, but I have an obligation to speak the truth. I have fulfilled my obligation. I wonder if you will?

It's sad that you had so many friends that went to harder drugs. The vast majority of pot smokers don't.

What amazes me is that alcohol ruins lives and families, but you won't find such things with the weed.
