That's why the list is loaded with Steelers, Cowboys, and 49'ers

Interestingly there are no Patriots on the list except for a kicker.
That kicker is the seal on the first three, both in getting to and prevailing. Without Adam I don't think they have at least two. He should be an automatic for HOF enshrinement when his career ends and that's saying something.

Else, that lack of Pats goes back to my modern era argument about dilution and how a smattering of greatness can accomplish much more now than it could once upon a time.

This is a side issue and I don't want to revive the college football thread. Internet football troll Pat Forde is reporting that Ole Miss has received a notice of allegations for 30-yes three oh-violations including football. Although football isn't the only one. And in football it is reported that it was before Hugh Freeze. Guess what, it doesn't work that way. So the Tide might get an undefeated season. They won't get the win if Ole Miss wins are vacated, but the loss column changes to a goose egg. To me right now it is coin flip that ineligible players were on the field this last season.

You take them any way they come.

Though I consider Lynn Swan one of the NFL's most grossly overrated WR's and not remotely worthy of being in the pro Football Hall of Fame he was fantastic in Super Bowl play.

Super Bowl 10: 4 Rec, 161 yd, 1 TD
Super Bowl 13: 7 Rec, 121 yd, 1 TD
Super Bowl 14: 5 rec, 79 yd, 1 TD

That's 16 receptions for 361 yards, and 3 TD's.

Too small a sampling, but I'll take either over the given, given what they showed throughout. Give them four SBs and see what happens. :)

I think the list is based on Super Bowl performance, not who had more talent. Randy Moss may have been a better WR than Lynn Swan but Swan played brilliantly in Super Bowl play. Randy Moss did not.

That's correct.

Randy Moss played in one Super Bowl caught 5 passes for 64 yards and 1 TD.

Those stats aren't going to get Moss on any all-time Super Bowl list.

In fact, those stats won't even get him on a Top 25 Super Bowl WR's list.

Same thing for Walter Payton.

Payton had 61 yards on 22 carries, and 0 TD's.

Those stats won't get Walter Payton on any Super Bowl list.

All time Super Bowl rushing leaders:

1. Franco Harris 354 (4 SB)
2. Larry Csonka 297 (3 SB)
3. Emmitt Smith 289 (3 SB)

5. John Riggins 230 (2 SB)
6. Timmy Smith 204 (1 SB)
7. Thurman Thomas 204 (4 SB)
8. Roger Craig 198 (3 SB)
9. Marcus Allen 191 (1 SB)

Joe Montana is probably the unanimous choice for all-time Super Bowl QB

First off, he has the highest passer rating for Super Bowls:

1. Joe Montana 127.83 (4 SB)
2. Jim Plunkett 122.83 (2 SB)
3. Russell Wilson 117.39 (2 SB)
4. Terry Bradshaw 112.80 (4 SB)
5. Troy Aikman 111.93 (3 SB)
6. Bart Starr 105.98 (2 SB)
7. Brett Favre 97.61 (2 SB)
8. Kurt Warner 96.65 (3 SB)
9. Eli Manning 96.17 (2 SB)
10. Roger Staubach 95.37 (4 SB)

Secondly, he is not only not on the following most interception's list, he never threw an interception in a Super Bowl

Most Interceptions:

1. John Elway 8 (5 SB)
2. Jim Kelly 7 (4 SB)
Craig Morton 7 (2 SB)
4. Fran Tarkenton 6 (3 SB)
5. Ben Roethlisberger 5 (3 SB)
Rich Gannon 5 (1 SB)
7. Joe Theismann 4 (2 SB)
Tom Brady 4 (6 SB)
Peyton Manning 4 (3 SB)
Drew Bledsoe 4 (1 SB)
Terry Bradshaw 4 (4 SB)
Earl Morrall 4 (4 SB)
Kerry Collins 4 (1 SB)
Roger Staubach 4 (4 SB)

****Bradshaw gets a lot of flack, but as we see above, he has the 4th highest passer rating in Super Bowl history.

The wonderful thing about NFL history is that there are so many great teams in so many eras that were basically unbeatable. I think the NFL today is much more evenly matched.

Peyton was talking to the press today about the importance of enjoying the whole experience of the time and events preceding the Super Bowl.

If that's the face of someone enjoying himself I'd hate to see him at a funeral.

I can't remember ever seeing Peyton laugh or smile real big

Montana played nearly flawless in the biggest game. He was 83 of 122 for a stellar 68% against the best competition. One big loss is when Roger Craig dropped an open pass, preventing another trip to the Super Bowl. 1142 yards, 11 TDs 0 Ints. I forget what year when Craig dropped the ball. The Giants went to the Super Bowl. I would have to go to pro-reference.com.

And Damar Hamlin is staying home in Pittsburgh. He is the number 2 player in Pennsylvania, choosing his home school over the villains of Penn State, Ohio State and Notre Dame. He is a lock down corner. He is what Narduzzi needs to play his press coverage. When you have two corners like that in college, you can run the jail house blitz every down. He will have Pitt in the ACC title game in a few years.
