Only about 50% are actually committing a crime by being here.

Not what he said, dummy.

You need to get your eyes checked.

And that's becoming an increasing percentage. Thought you knew.

They can be detain and deported. During the Obama years, immigration enforcement was focused on finding and deporting or imprisoning the dangerous criminals among them, which meant that those who were not committing crimes here were less likely to be deported.

Now, Trump has reversed that policy, and yes, such otherwise law-abiding aliens are being more frequently deported, which means that dangerous criminals are less likely to be deported than previously.

I think that's a concern. Apparently, Trump does too, since he's shown us cases where dangerous criminals here illegally harmed people. I wish he cared enough to do something meaningful about it.

there's been a lot of talk in canada (probably the us as well) of replacing the existing welfare system with a guaranteed minimum income

unsurprisingly, its been getting a lot of pushback from those who benefit from the existing welfare system

How is it working in Europe? (Barbarian checks)

Not bad where it's been implemented, but I see a problem. Mostly, it's in the form of a negative income tax, whereby if your job doesn't pay the minimum income, you get a payment to bring you up to that level.

Wal-Mart would love it. They'd use the government as a way to pay their employees.

Not saying that would be impossible to fix, but I'd like to see the details first.

100% are breaking the law, but you are only interested in the percent that are committing a crime?

Is being in the United States unlawfully a 'crime'?
It is generally accurate that the simple act of being in the United States illegally is not, by itself, a crime. Rather, it’s a civil violation that puts the individual at risk for deportation, but not for criminal prosecution. However, it’s worth noting that someone who is unlawfully present might still have committed a related crime by entering the United States after having been deported, for instance, or entering in an illegal manner.

Entering in an illegal manner is a crime.
And that's becoming an increasing percentage.
As time goes on, a larger percent of illegal aliens are committing a crime by being here?
Good to know.

It's what I said. You need to get your eyes checked. Might do something about that impulsive temper, too.

If it's any comfort to you, even people who don't hate immigrants think the law should be followed as long as that's what it is. The point is that strict enforcement of the law would cause a major recession. Check out the experience of Alabama in that matter:

Immigration is a good thing.

Can you name someone who says it's not?

I suppose these guys.

maxresdefault.jpg

They claim it's "genocide against the white race."

As you learned from the details I posted, it's not a new thing. If you read the history in the links, you'll see that these guys are essentially no different than nativists in the past. The Nazi stuff is merely a convenient ideological point on which these guys can agree.

As you also learned, they are a shrinking minority in America. The issue is losing it's hold on the right.

ok, so you're mad at the 0.000001 % of americans who identify as nazis

wouldn't it have been easier just to post that in the beginning instead of trolling for five pages?

Sorry, I thought you were making an attempt at rational conversation. Occasionally, you do produce something worthwhile and worth discussing. I thought this was one of those, like your posts on the feasibility of alternative energy sources.

But you often merely troll to get a reaction from people, and get verbally abusive when it doesn't happen. I misread you, this time. Sorry.

I think in real life, you're probably a pretty decent person, and I think you could get just as much attention by showing us the rational side of yourself.

Wouldn't it be better if you were known for that kind of thing, and respected for your ideas?

Nazism (or National Socialism; German: Nationalsozialismus) is a set of political beliefs associated with the Nazi Party of Germany.
Nazism is a leftist (socialist) ideology.

i was - that's why my post was to JR - i can expect rational conversation from him

from you?

usually just database wasting crap from a recognized jerk

but i'll let the boss have the last word:
The Barbarian is a jerk who has posted on TOL for years and when he makes a database wasting post he exposes himself to possible banishment. Heck it wouldn't hurt my feeling at all to permanently ban him.

You've been suckered on that. The data is on all 50 states. And no, the INS does not document all low-skill workers. We don't even know for sure exactly how many there are.

Any illegal alien who enters the INS used to get documentation. Charles Grassley noticed this, when he looked into the bureau.

They said that about the Irish, the Italians, the Germans, the Jews, etc. And they were always wrong. And now you're wrong.
I am German and my ancestors spoke English and were highly skilled; this you can't say about Central Americans.

While it was true the United States was advancing fast technologically, It was getting dirtier and poorer.

Today we have people of Hispanic and Black ethnics worried and whining, when no harm is intended to them.

I suppose these guys.

You're getting closer. What are those guys' names?

Names, Barbarian. Remember? It's what you were first challenged over. You've spent numerous posts avoiding the challenge, and creating and chasing rabbits. When will you front up and admit that your only play is to brand groups as evil, ignorant fools while you think it's safe?

Apparently, the guy in Nazi get up is named "Make America Great Again." That's what's on his hat.

Names, Barbarian. Remember?

I'm just showing you what nativists do. If you don't think Nazi Trump supporters are nativists, then I'd be happy to hear your argument. How do you figure that?

When will you front up and admit that your only play is to brand groups as evil,

That was your word. Why do you think nativists are evil? As you learned, they are ignorant and foolish, since they actually believe illegal immigrants are violent, when in fact, they are less violent than native-born Americans. If you don't think that is being ignorant and foolish, I'd be happy to hear your argument.

Republican senator Tim Scott, regarding a certain Republican Congressman's white nationalist statements:
Some in our party wonder why Republicans are constantly accused of racism—it is because of our silence when things like this are said. Immigration is the perfect example, in which somehow our affection for the rule of law has become conflated with a perceived racism against brown and black people.

I do support border security not because I want to keep certain ethnicities out of our nation, but because I support enforcing our laws. I do not care if you come from Canada, France or Honduras, if you break our laws, there should be consequences. But it has become almost impossible to have a reasonable conversation along those lines. That’s in part why I laid out my agenda on civility, fairness and opportunity on Thursday on the floor of the Senate.

Oh. It's Donaldtrump you hate.

That was your word.

And racism was your word. If you don't think racism is hatred, what are you whining about? :idunno:

As you learned, you are ignorant and foolish, as you actually believe violence is the issue. Also, your studies were shown to be ill-fitted to the topic.

But you just want to call half the country ignorant fools. :idunno:

And you don't have the courage to name names.
