Paul Manafort was sent to jail Friday by a federal judge who said she couldn’t turn a blind eye to claims that he attempted to tamper with witnesses, adding pressure on President Donald Trump’s former campaign manager to cooperate with a U.S. probe of Russian election meddling.

U.S. authorities immediately took Manafort into custody and escorted him out of a packed courtroom, where his wife looked on during the hearing. The dramatic turn means that Manafort will have to prepare for two federal trials in the coming weeks -- one in Washington, and one in Virginia -- while confined to a jail cell.

U.S. District Judge Amy Berman Jackson in Washington revoked Manafort’s bail, saying she had no choice but to lock him up because she couldn’t stop him from contacting people.

Manafort went out of his way to disobey 2 specific orders not to talk with potential witnesses. Apparently it is OK for Trump's buddies to ignore court orders without consequence. No wonder Trump loves Putin, Duterte, Erdogan etc.

On the Texas tourism sign...
Burkett Outdoor Advertising, the company that owns the sign, told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram that the sign would be taken down after all the attention, much of it negative.

"I was shocked that it traveled that fast," Randy Burkett, the company's owner, told the newspaper. "I believe in free speech, but this country is divided enough as it is. I've spoken with the client, and he's agreed that it should come down. We'll be reimbursing him."

...On Wednesday, a GoFundMe promising to create a billboard with a welcoming message along I-40 reached its goal of $1,800.

The campaign says the billboard will say, "Texas is for everyone--not for bigotry. Welcome, y'all!"

That seems bigoted against bigots.

I propose a revision:
Spoiler

Texas is for "everyone" - unless you're bigoted

If you're bigoted, go back to Alabama

Meanwhile, in non personal profile news:

(CNN)President Donald Trump on Wednesday reversed his debunked argument that he had no authority to stop separations of undocumented immigrant families at the border, signing an executive order to keep parents and kids together."We're signing an executive order. I consider it to be a very important executive order. It's about keeping families together, while at the same time being sure we have a very powerful, very strong border," Trump said.

Trump's climbdown came after he faced intense pressure from across the political spectrum and from religious, political and world leaders to halt the separations, which produced days of heartrending news coverage of crying children -- some of whom were kept in cage-like detention centers.
The President claimed, though, that he isn't backing down

Of course he's not backing down. He's just leading a new charge to the rear, which is where a lot of his "best" ideas appear to be find their origin.
