You don’t know that. As far as I know he only took two shots and hit the killer twice. He is or was a firearms instructor.
He's right...Although handguns are much easier to tote around considering the range and situation the rifle is the best option and the most sure one. Thank God the guy had a rifle.

You are correct about one thing...You are no expert. I have a rifle in my trunk.

🙄 He had it because he was at home across the street from the church. He had to take it out of his safe and load it, and regrets to this day that extra 90 seconds cost lives.

You can run that “you are no expert“ trope for as long as it helps you feel superior and whatnot. I know what I need to know to responsibly shoot and clean my weapon of choice. Guns aren’t my hobby or obsession, and they‘re not going to be, but whether you like it or not, I’m a “liberal” with guns. 🙂

BTW...He went in got the weapon because of the range and situation. He did the right thing...Of course he regrets the loss of life but making a direct approach with a handgun and attempting to engage is a last resort suicide move in that instance. With a handgun the only way would be to attempt to get much closer without exposing himself which would have taken a bit longer than 90 seconds I would wager.

He went in and got the rifle because he had the experience and knowledge to know he needed it.

You post things that torpedo your own point out of ignorance and are proud of yourself over it.

Oh, so in any good guy with a gun scenario, he should forget the handgun he’s strapped with and run home and get an AR 15 so that he can do the good guy with a gun in a way that you approve of. Wow…

Fact is, more good guys with a gun are gonna have handguns on them. Not everyone has the mass killing taking place across the street from their house. That they’re in.

Oh, and here’s the requisite 🙄

He wouldn't have killed the guy with a handgun. More likely he would have gotten himself killed.
The mass murderer was wearing body armor iirc. In fact unless I'm misremembering, he targeted the murderer where the armor wasn't deliberately. Without the precision of the AR he wouldn't have been as able to hit the soft spot.

He had to load a magazine. I believe I remember him saying that he was literally dropping rounds because he was already adrenalized, you really don't want in a pressure situation to have to fumble around with loose rounds trying to insert them into your mags. He was in the right place at the right time, he had the rifle, he had the rounds, and he had the mags, but they weren't assembled and ready to go. I always say, empty magazines are useless. Always load your mags and store them loaded. The only time you should unload them is when you're selling them. If this (unconditional) hero had heeded this advice he would have saved more lives, probably.

Godspeed.

Which means that there are millions of those rifles that are not committing murders.

Maybe it's not the rifles
It's suicide and organized crime largely.

Is it deliberate?

He testified that to that effect. That if he hadn’t had to take the time to get the rifle out and grab rounds (I think he took 8 rounds), that he could‘ve saved more lives And that’s why those 90 seconds haunt him and he’ll never keep his rifle in a safe again. It’s a tough thing for me to decide between having a loaded shotgun, an empty shotgun with shells in close proximity or a shotgun that’s locked up which isn’t gonna help me when I need it. So I follow the law for my state and when kids are in the house it’s locked up. And hope I don’t need it while kids are in the house.

State law made it illegal for people to be armed in the church. Had just one man ignored the law, the death toll might have been one.

And by one, I mean zero.
