Going to family on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day in my childhood.

So everybody would stay the night together?

I would love for one time to spend Christmas at a big cabin somewhere for a few days. We have a family of 20 including kids and grandkids. It just wouldn’t be easy to do since they also go to the in-laws for Christmas as well. I’m still holding out hope that we might be able to some day. But for now, we get together on Christmas Day and for that, I’m thankful.

I’d heard of that but didn’t know exactly how it worked. That’s really interesting. If I’d have done that with my kids growing up, with 5 of them they’d have probably knocked down the tree and ripped it apart trying to get to it.

When we were in the Pacific Northwest, we would get a permit to cut down a Christmas tree off the mountain where the loggers had been. That turned out to be a really great set of memories. But now that I'm in the Midwest, I'm not interested in getting a live tree at all. The fake tree is as good as any at this point.
