Luther taught that UNLESS people first believe they couldn't be part of the Body of Christ. That proves he believes people are born APART from Christ, and therefore born lost, born in sin...

We have to believe and obey Jesus to be saved. Luther and Calvin and many others teach against that.
If one is unsaved, He is NOT in Christ. If he is NOT in Christ, he is APART from Him. If he is APART from Him, he can do NOTHING (John 15:5), according to Christ Himself.
Can you explain how the unsaved can do SOMETHING - believe aNd obey, while Jesus Himself said he can do NOTHING?

Everyone who wants to be saved must obey. Anyone can obey.

The 'not of works' is about not of purification works. The Jews did works to clean themselves and it was called purification/ceremonial works. Now Jesus cleans us by our having faith that his blood cleans us. It doesn't mean obeying Jesus is now wrong, it just means we don't have to get circumcised and sacrifice animals.
Jesus is the Way and we have to do what he says in order to get saved. Jesus says to repent of sins.
All are born without knowing God and must be taught about him and put in him.
Then you are just like the Calvinists and Arminians who teach that people are born lost, born NOT in Christ...
