10 steps to beating Trump

Had me fooled as well, what would you consider yourself? Socialist? Communist? You certainly are not conservative, what faction are you aligned with?

I was a Republican until 2012, when I changed my registration to unaffiliated.

I was a pretty far to the right conservative when I came to TOL.

Donald Trump, I have recently found, is a braggart, a liar and an insult to intelligence and good taste.

But I have been seeing those same qualities in many on the American right wing for decades. Now that one of their own is manifesting those very traits they themselves are unable or unwilling to be accountable to themselves:

They now project those traits onto the Trumpster and thus avoid admitting their compliance in the whole immature and ignorant mess.

I like Trump because he is honest. Even those GOP'ers who like to see themselves "above the fray" are veritable wellsprings of the stuff they see in Trump. Ben Carson's arrogant statement that he himself has "fear of the Lord" and Trump doesn't is a case in point.

Jesus told us to mind the planks and beams and logs in our own eyes before we deem to point out the specks of sawdust in our neighbor's.

Good advice for any self-described Christian.

trump is destroying the republican party
clinton called trump in may just before he entered the race
do you need any more help connecting the dots?
If he becomes the eventual GOP candidate, I am probably going to support him. He is not appealing to the fringe. Most of the GOP has felt like this for years and will be only too eager to vote Trump.

Obviously, you have been woefully wrong so far. He is appealing to the true base of the party and perhaps it is hard for you to be accountable for those same qualities in yourself and your party you now decry.

Whoops... How'd I do that...

That should have read unaffiliated.

I consider myself a moderate, something I argued against once.

Guessing here: You let yourself to be fooled into voting for Obama...right? All this is how you now try to justify having been fooled, as many Catholics were, without admitting to it openly.

So now you insist you're a moderate because you still can't bring yourself to just say it: "I got fooled big time, I regret my vote."

Am I close? If so your reluctant honesty, such as it is, is refreshing.

when she first came, she was a staunch defender of Sarah Palin and the conservative agenda

since then, she has fallen under the sway of one here who has bent her to the twisted mess she now is

Same question then...Unaffiliated to what?

Moderate? does that mean you stand for nothing? Status quo? not to throw stones but, saying that one is moderate is kinda like saying they stand for nothing or are just too weak to take a stand for anything, perched upon the fence not able to make a decision for good or evil. Anna, I have known you at this site for a number of years now and seen you digress from a conservative catholic into a progressive liberal who is seemingly "unaffiliated" with God...or that is just how it appears to me on the surface, I don't really know where you are at anymore, sadly.

Wow.

So now you insist you're a moderate because you still can't bring yourself to just say it: "I got fooled big time, I regret my vote."
:chuckle: Such extraordinary hubris.

And "insist?" Wow again. :chuckle:

Am I close? If so your reluctant honesty, such as it is, is refreshing.
Not even. :chuckle:

I didn't vote for Obama. I didn't vote for McCain. I talked with someone here at the time about it who can vouch for that, but I'm unconcerned about having to prove my honesty to anyone who doesn't care about me.

That's the terminology that California uses. Surely you know that? Someone or somewhere else might say independent.

I used to think that too, agreeing with Rush's definition of a moderate. I've rethought it many times over the past few years.

All we have is a surface relationship, rocketman. Very few really know me, know what the past six or seven years have been like for me. Many who disagree with me here, like musterion and sod in their posts above yours, create fictional narratives about me that help them focus and personalize their animosity, but their fiction has nothing to do with reality because they simply don't know me.

I didn't ask you to prove a thing. I just took a guess and said so. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong.

It just seems odd that someone who took a left turn (you) and who went "moderate" in 2012 (you) would not have voted for Obama. But again...

You went a lot further than simply taking a guess. You went on to create a fictional narrative of my motives, intent... even wrote a dialogue for me. Do me a favor and focus your speculation on someone who cares what you think.

Then stop replying to me. Problem solved.

I already thought we were done here.

You don't decide if I'm finished, I do that. How convenient that would be for you, to approach me first and then assume I won't challenge you on your fiction and your hubris. You talk about me, I'll respond as much as I think necessary. You don't like being called on your crap, don't fly over and drop it.
