The Gospel of the Kingdom and the plot twist.

What great commission was given to Israel? Israel did fade away, being dispersed by the Romans far across the map. The unbelieving Jews are a foot note in history. The believing Jews are now "in Christ", with the rest of the world's believers.

The Gospel of the Kingdom and the plot twist.

It is loaded with presages, shadows, cast by our Lord Jesus Christ. I love seeing the prophesies fulfilled. It all showed the world the power, glory, mercy and wrath of God. How does your POV hold up to..."But I tell you of a truth, many widows were in Israel in the days of Elias, when the...

I printed out a 5 or 6 item list of Paul's mentions of "works of the Law" in post 44.... Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith. Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law. (Romans 3:27-28) Wherefore...

I was raised as a catholic and believed what they told me from scripture. As I grew older, however, my reasons for seeking life in the scriptures forced me to disregard things I had previously held sacred. Like worship of Mary. I think folks see a narrative that fits their assumptions. Or...

Scripture is made to fit the narrative assigned to it by the reader. Where the reader gets his understanding of scripture is a wide road. How many narratives do you suppose there are regarding water baptism? Or gifts of the Holy Spirit?

The Gospel of the Kingdom and the plot twist.

It seemed like a pretty easy "Yes"-"No" kind of question. Jesus' prime mission was indeed to the Israelites, but when He saw faith being exercised, the nationality of folks faded away in importance. Jesus even lauded a Roman's faith to the Israelites. (Matt 8:9-10)

If someone tells you what the narrative is before presenting the writings, it will always seem so. I could guess other groups would say the same thing. Catholics make the writings fit their dogma, and so do the Baptists. Thanks for your POV though.

    May I ask...

Eph 2:9's works are "of the Law", but Eph 2:10's works are like James' works...plain old giving glory to God by obedience to Him by loving our neighbors as we love ourselves. V. 9's circumcision and dietary rules are different than v. 10's feeding and clothing the destitute. Proof of conversion...

The Gospel of the Kingdom and the plot twist.

Did you see the earth getting burned up? Did you see the dead being raised? That is what is expected at the return of Christ.

That is quite different than His foretold return with the fiery angels will be, to destroy this place. (Psa 104:4, Matt 3:11-12, Heb 10:27)

There is no "just" warfare by men. OK.

Not a fan of hate, murder, or war. What a worthless endeavor depending on myself would be.

    May I ask...

Agreed. No deed of the Law is necessary for salvation. Paul fought against circumcision primarily, but also against dietary rules, sabbath keeping, and tithing too. Not the Law's works. Not the Law's works. The adherence to the anti-works doctrines has inadvertently out-lawed repentance from...

    Ukraine Crisis

It is only a silver lining for the profiteers. Amen. So is dependence on men instead of on God.

    May I ask...

That is why you see a contradiction. You can't see that Paul's "works" are "of the Law". Six times Paul writes of the works of the Law... Romans 3:27-28 Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith. Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by...

    Ukraine Crisis

There is much financial profit in war making. It is written..."For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows." (1 Tim 6:10)

I'll stick with Paul in 1 Tim 6:10..."For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows."

The Gospel of the Kingdom and the plot twist.

Is this your blessing of Israel?..."And she answered and said unto him, Yes, Lord: yet the dogs under the table eat of the children's crumbs." (Mark 7:28) As Jesus wouldn't do any good for the unfaithful Jews either, it seems faith is independent of nationality.

The Gospel of the Kingdom and the plot twist.

If there are no Jews or Greeks in the body of Christ, who is in the body of Christ? Both !!!! We are all one in Him. We just don't rely on our nationality for salvation anymore.
