@User Name Interesting conversation in this thread about Trump and DeSantis splitting the MAGA vote and whether that would allow for a more moderate candidate. Opinions tend to be no, it'll either be Trump or DeSantis, because there's no viable establishment candidate out there.

DeSantis is smarter than Trump. That may make him more of a threat.

In short, DeSantis is engaged in one of the most alarming assaults on free speech and academic freedom since the dark days of McCarthyism in the 1950s, when Nixon rose to power. His actions may not be as blatant as inciting a mob to attack Congress, but his record reveals a troubling pattern of authoritarianism and vindictiveness that would be extremely dangerous in the Oval Office.

Just because DeSantis is smarter than Trump doesn’t mean that he is any less dangerous. In fact, he might be an even bigger threat for that very reason.

I would rather see DeSantis in the White House than Trump.

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) — Former President Donald Trump has endorsed Maryland Del. Daniel Cox’s bid for the Republican nomination for governor. Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan is doing the opposite.

The governor said Tuesday afternoon that he will be supporting Kelly Schulz, the secretary of the Maryland Department of Commerce.

"Dan Cox ... is a QAnon whack job who was in favor of calling Mike Pence, my friend, a traitor, when they were talking about hanging him," Hogan said at a news conference on crime.

The Washington Post reported Trump’s endorsement Monday described Cox as a “tough lawyer and smart businessman” who fought "the Rigged Presidential Election every step of the way."

Trump said Cox’s opponent Kelly Schulz, was “handpicked" by Hogan, and called him a “RINO.”

On Thursday's episode of journalist Bari Weiss' podcast Honestly, Barr described Trump as someone who is "all about himself" and willing to pursue his personal agenda at the expense of the greater GOP.

Barr, who headed the Department of Justice for two years under Trump, criticized him for castigating members of their party as "RINOs," or Republicans in name only, contending that not only do such conservatives not exist but that Trump has chosen to do so to purge the GOP of people he didn't like.

"The idea that there are RINOs, people that really don't support Republican principles, is simply not true," Barr said. "What the president is defining as RINOs are people who are true blue Republicans and conservatives but who just have a problem with Trump personally."

Mitch McConnell played the Trumplicans like a fiddle and they ate it up, but now they have indigestion:

Any American who supports massive government overspending in violation of inviolate fiscal laws of nature is supporting the inevitable bankruptcy of the nation. Unsustainable deficit and debt spending always lead to fiscal disasters - always.

But that's what Republicans always do. Just ask Reagan, Bush, and Trump. Republicans complain about spending whenever there's a Democrat in the White House, but then when a Republican gets in the White House, they push deficit spending to new highs.

Regarding the post above, it looks like Steve Bannon has decided that Jared Kushner was the mole who ratted out Trump to the FBI regarding Trump's hoarding of secret documents at Mar-a-Lago.

DeSantis is a conservative republican who favors traditional American views and values. That makes him an enemy of the socialist anti-American left.

Democrats find fault with every republican on the ticket, but they do nothing to lower prices at the pump and at the stores.
