There is a whole lot going on in this nation that the government wants to keep citizen's from paying attention to. And all of a sudden they are admitting that something is happening they have always worked hard to deny? The government does this time after time after time. It's the old con game of look at here at this shiny bauble rather than what's going on over there. Focus tightly on this to the exclusion of all else.
And who is reporting on this stuff? On, wonder of wonders, it's the mockingbird media. They're not known for their dishonesty and publishing whatever the government wants in front of the public eye. Oh, no. Not at all. They would never do anything like that. They would never play the old shell game of under which shell is the pea hidden. Nope. Not them. They're way too honest to do anything like that....
And who around here is known for pushing government propaganda? None other than un himself.

If they aren't ET, then they are adversarial (Chinese, Russian). That's where the worry comes in.

If they have technologies so advanced that you think that it's "aliens", then our goose is cooked already.
If it's space aliens they have to be friendly. They just have to be. Didn't you ever see ET?
Didn't you ever see Independence Day? Or War of the Worlds?
Actually, I think the majority of sci fi movies depict aliens as evil invaders. I don't buy into that narrative at all.
