How about someone actually in the field?

By the way, the video I was originally going to share has apparently been removed from YouTube. I'm thankful to have found this reshare.

And if that video gets removed, you can find the actual video file on https://wearepaulrevere.net, linked above as well.
His views have been repudiated by the medical establishment.

You are in the very challenging position of having to search for the rare qualified dissenter and explain what motivates you to do so without coming across as a conspiracy theorist. Why do you not go with the general consensus of the experts? Is that normally how you make decisions? If 1 out of 100 doctors said smoking does no harm, would you believe that doctor? Or would you go with what the overwhelming majority say?

From snopes:

In November 2020, social media users began sharing a video that supposedly captured a man named Dr. Roger Hodkinson stating that COVID-19 was the “biggest hoax ever perpetrated on an unsuspected public” during a city council meeting in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

Although this sort of claim can typically be dismissed out of hand (COVID-19 is not a hoax, and the coronavirus pandemic has resulted in more than 1.3 million deaths worldwide), social media users claimed that this person’s opinion was worth listening to since he was, according to the postings, the “Chairman of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.”

This caller in question was not the Chairman of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (nor did he claim to be in the video), and that medical organization has released a statement distancing themselves from any association with his comments.

Covid-19 is a hoax? Is that the hill you want to die on?

His views have been repudiated by the medical establishment.

Because you say so?

You are in the very challenging position of having to search for the rare qualified dissenter and explain what motivates you to do so without coming across as a conspiracy theorist.

It's not a conspiracy if it's happening out in the open.

Why do you not go with the general consensus of the experts?

Because that would be called an appeal to popularity, and an appeal to authority.

I stick to the facts.

Is that normally how you make decisions? If 1 out of 100 doctors said smoking does no harm, would you believe that doctor?

I would look at the facts, do at least a cursory search on the effects of smoking on the human body, and find that smoking indeed does do harm, especially to the lungs.

Or would you go with what the overwhelming majority say?

I wouldn't do that at all, because the overwhelming majority might be wrong.

Stick to what the facts say, not what people in power say, and certainly not what they say they say.

Sorry, but he wasn't talking about Covid-19 when he said the above words.

Listen to it (again, if you haven't already). The part that Snopes misquoted follows just after his statement of his credentials, a transcript of which I have provided below, to the best of my ability.

Although this sort of claim can typically be dismissed out of hand (COVID-19 is not a hoax,

No one said it was. No one here, at least, and certainly not Dr. Hodkinson.

and the coronavirus pandemic has resulted in more than 1.3 million deaths worldwide),

Which, as far as I can tell, isn't in dispute.

social media users claimed that this person’s opinion was worth listening to since he was, according to the postings, the “Chairman of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.”

Considering that's nowhere near what I said, and certainly not what Dr. Hodkinson said, what relevance does that have to this discussion?

This caller in question was not the Chairman of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (nor did he claim to be in the video),

No one said he was. I certainly didn't. Dr. Hodkinson certainly didn't.

I simply said that he was someone in the field.

and that medical organization has released a statement distancing themselves from any association with his comments.

Here is what Dr. Hodkinson said (as close as I could get) regarding his credentials:
"I'm a medical specialist in pathology which includes virology. I trained at Cambridge University in the UK. I'm the ex-president of the pathology section of the medical association. I was previously an assistant professor at the faculty of medicine doing a lot of teaching. I was the chairman of the [unintelligible](royal college?) of physicians of Canada examination commitee in pathology in Ottowa. But more to the point, I am currently the chairman of a biotechnology company in North Carolina selling the Covid 19 test."

Covid-19 is a hoax?

Who said that? I certainly didn't. Dr. Hodkinson certainly didn't.

Is that the hill you want to die on?

You should stop listening to fake news (in other words, the Snopes article is just a straw man against Dr. Hodkinson), and just listen to what the man actually said. Go on, I'll wait.

Ummm, no. It is because I am scientifically literate with an engineering degree from an Ivy League university. You?

That's nice.

Anyone that quotes snopes on anything isn't looking for the truth. Snopes is owned by Soros and is one guy and his girlfriend saying anything Soros pays them to say. It has no credibility at all. That said I used to believe it about 20 years ago until I investigated snopes. A lot info on snopeshas been scrubbed off the internet by Google, but some real info about it still exists

. . . . I am scientifically literate with an engineering degree from an Ivy League university. . . . .

I think you are a LIAR. Anyone can anonymously post that stuff.

You believe in science? Then you must be pro life, because scientifically the baby in the womb is not only a human being but the baby is a distinctly different person than the mother based on DNA science, therefore, scientifically, abortion is the killing of an innocent human being, right Mr. Science?

And if you are Mr. Science then you must surely be against Democrat Transgender science because that is all junk science; gender fluidity is a lie just like German Aryan superiority was also political junk science fobbed off as real science, right Mr. Science?

And if you are Mr. Science then you know that same sex attraction is a mental disorder, and that the APA changing their mind about it being a mental disorder was pure politics, not based on any actual demonstrable science, and thus the APA corrupted itself and became a political tool, right?

And of course you know that the Covid scare and all the draconian measures are crap, based on false science, right?

Or, instead of all that, you are more likely just another leftwing hack who posts stupidities. Yes, that is what your forum record here indicates. And lets say for the sake of argument that you actually do have an engineering degree from an Ivy League university. My dad has an engineering degree too, and he would think that you are an ape making ape sounds from a tree. Ivy League schools are full of leftwing idiots spewing out lies and ignorance. I should know because I walk among them in school. Why should you be any different.

Your posts in this forum prove that you are clueless, so watch your piehole when you are trying to insult me. I have something you will never have: An innate natural sense of right and wrong, a singular grace given to me by God.

Do you even know Jesus?

His views have been repudiated by the medical establishment. . . . .

. . . . . an establishment every bit as corrupt as the political establishment.

The Current Covid Vaccines
Can a Christian use them?

A Point article and a Counter-Point article:

Point: The Current Covid Vaccines Are Problematic But Permissible

Counterpoint: We Should Reject Abortion-Tainted Vaccines

Snopes isn't that credible anymore. I was a member of their site a few years back and was gather material to discredit the Michelle/Michael nonsense, because I think that is conspiracy theory. They removed me.

So Snopes is about politics and progressivism.

Fascinating.

One of the colleges I was accepted to out of high school was Cornell. I was on track in a Chemical Engineering program. This was before PC's - brand new mainframe VAX hardware, FORTRAN and BASIC programming, stacks and stacks of punch cards. Hated it.

Snopes lost me with the Nathan Phillips claim to be a Vietnam Vet nonsense. If you look at their page, they act as blatant apologists for the lying scumbag while including a video in which he clearly states "I'm a Vietnam vet"

At the end of the day if the medical community are wrong and wearing a mask isn't significant, is it such a hardship to wear a mask in public for a few months, I doubt they are, I see they have no motive to lie to me about wearing a mask, but if they are mistaken, whats the cost to me? Not much.

But if i'm not smarter the vast majority of medical community, and i'm wrong about wearing a mask, and i don't wear a mask and encourage others not to wear i mask, i could aid the spreading of a disease which is killing 100'00's of people.

Looking at the balance of probabilities, the cost to me, the potential cost to others, I don't like wearing mask, but its a small price to pay to probably protect a whole pile of people. I think if i insist on my right not to wear a mask i'm acting like a selfish jerk.

Then why wear one at all? Why inconvenience yourself if it makes no difference?
Because I don't know for sure either way, but I'm prone to think a mask is a minor benefit to everyone else. But i'm not a scientist studying in the field so have to trust someone else's opinion. I could try researching it all myself, but I believe there maybe smarter people on the planet on me , who know more on the subject.

A mask is a minor inconvenience to me, Someone dying of Covid well that's at least a major inconvenience to them.

So i'm willing to trade the two off in my head without much sweat.

You could claim to have studied this in depth and have the inside and scoop that has eluded the medical community. Forgive me if i'm cynical of that position, because unsurprisingly you went and found information justifying the position you wanted to take. That your friends take, that the people who hold similar political views take. Its confirmation bias.

I don't thinks its wise to make public health decisions based on the confirmation bias in the maelstrom of Political debate in the USA. People are choosing there 'alternative truths' at the moment and in a world of deadly facts that is scary.

I maybe wrong to trust the science on this but I cause farm less harm if i'm wrong, than you do if you are wrong.

I also don't like wearing a mask and find it tedious, but its level of tedious i'm willing to do for my fellow citizens.

YOU CALL YOURSELVES CHRISTIANS yet care not about your fellow man! Stop thinking about yourself and protect the people around you. Put your big boy pants on and wear a mask. Cover is not a joke.

not a benefit , fact nis masks make you stupid
I've witnessed the mask wearing cognitive impairment .

"On average, a 400-ppm increase in CO2 was associated with a 21% decrease in a typical participant’s cognitive scores"

the w.h.o. acknowledge that masks don't work

link
Narratives about complaints in children and adolescents caused by wearing a mask are accumulating. There is, to date, no registry for side effects of masks.

The average wearing time of the mask was 270 minutes per day. Impairments caused by wearing the mask were reported by 68% of the parents.
These included irritability (60%), headache (53%), difficulty concentrating (50%), less happiness (49%), reluctance to go to school/kindergarten (44%), malaise (42%) impaired learning (38%) and drowsiness or fatigue (37%).
