OUR PATTERN FOR SALVATION

DougE

1 Timothy 1:16 Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting.

Peter and the disciples are not our pattern for salvation.

Paul is our pattern for salvation unto eternal life.

We are to believe on Jesus Christ. We are to trust in Jesus Christ and believe the gospel that he died for our sins and rose for our justification unto eternal life.

Amen brother!

2Co 5:16-17 KJV Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more. (17) Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

Peter and the disciples are not our pattern for salvation.

Scripture never said that, you did

Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting.

This pattern is in common with all believers. Believing is after a Sovereign act of Grace and Mercy out of the Lord Jesus Christ. Peter believed as a result of Mercy 1 Pet 1:3

3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

Peter said the same thing as Paul about obtaining Mercy 1 Pet 2:10

Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.

You just make up something and state it as if its the word of God !

It doesn't matter. Salvation is the same for all .Acts 15:

And when there had been much disputing, Peter rose up, and said unto them, Men and brethren, ye know how that a good while ago God made choice among us, that the Gentiles by my mouth should hear the word of the gospel, and believe.

8 And God, which knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as he did unto us;

9 [/SUP]And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith.

10 Now therefore why tempt ye God, to put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?

11 But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved, even as they.

I know what I posted. You should know why I posted it. Pauls pattern in believing is no different than anyone else. The bible never said anything about that. Douge made that statement up out of his own mind.

If Peter and the twelve were our pattern Paul would have said so.....Paul said he was the pattern for those who would HEREAFTER believe

Peter was taught of Jesus the gospel he was to preach to Israel....this is not the gospel given Paul for this dispensation.

Yes God has mercy on all (Romans 11:32). Peter's gospel saved, but not in this dispensation.

The gospel the Gentiles believed by Peter's preaching was not the same gospel Paul preaches.....these Gentiles believed the gospel of the kingdom and did not believe in the cross...they believed only he was Christ, the Son of God and he was resurrected

Acts 15:11 But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved, even as they.

I will answer if I may:

Of course it was grace....all are saved by grace through faith.

It is wrongly assumed the grace Peter spoke of is the same as the gospel of grace, the dispensation of grace Paul speaks of.

Nah it doesn't have to say it, it's common knowledge. You just made up that statement.

Salvation is the same for everyone, through and by the Lord Jesus Christ. That goes for under the old testament and new testament.

That's false there's but one grace!

It was the same gospel, there's only one Gospel! If anyone preached any other let them be accursed Gal 1:8-9

Poor confused b57

There are MANY gospels in the Bible... gospel simple means "good news".

Only someone indoctrinated into nonsense would believe that there is on one "good news" in the Bible.
