      Hymns. 'Nuff said.

Sunday School teachers who shut down all interesting discussion in favor of a lesson plan.

Sermons that amount to 'give the church more money'...particularly if it's at a funeral and the pastor says '[the deceased] gave a lot to the church...he would want you to give more money to the church...'(no, not kidding).
Vivo per lei, perchè oramai, io non ho altra via d'uscita, perchè la musica, lo sai, davvero non l'ho mai tradita.

And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.--John 8:31-32

I hate it if the pastor starts crying from the pulpit. That's one that will make me never come back.

No, not that I know of, but my New Testament doesn't begin with Romans and end with Philemon.

Okay, that's what I was thinking.

Enjoy the robes and altars, but they are still my pet peeves.

Slooooooow repetitive songs. (just kill me please....)

Also, the latest self help, how to be swell sermon, version 999,999,001.5 where all the sad-faced come up for prayer afterward, just like they did Every Sunday for the last 20 years.
Marge: "Aren't you going to give him the last rites?"
Rev. Lovejoy: "That's Catholic, Marge - you might as well ask me to do a voodoo dance."

"Oh bother" said Pooh, as he chambered the next round.

Among many other things, I hate church-speak, like:
                              • "Let's bow our heads and hearts"
                              • "Pray for travelling mercies"
                              • Using "Lord", "Father", "Jesus", and "God" 35 times in a single 2-minute prayer
                              • "Lord we pray a hedge of protection around our dear sister"
                              • Calling a carpeted step an "altar"
                              • Etc.
                              Funny how threads morph.

For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him." ~ Paul

"You should never wave to someone you don't know. What if he doesn't have a hand? Then he'll just think you're being cocky!" ~Mitch Hedberg
