Really Good Beer

Christmas ales came out this week. So today I've been trying Haandbryggeriet Bestefar (grandfather). An absolutely delicious beer. Full bodied, creamy and rich tasting. Similar to an imperial stout, but with added spice notes.

A friend recently recommended that I try making beer chili, since at the time we had some leftover wheat beer from a party.
Turned out magically.

He also suggested I try a "chocolate stout", especially for cooking.
I've never heard of or seen the stuff in these parts.
Can someone give me a review?

first you drink beer
and
then you eat the chili
and
then you have chocolate

in that order

Go for it! I've used chocolate in my chili before, it adds an awesome texture and taste. I'd imagine the stout would be another awesome ingredient. I'll use one in my next pot!

Finally experienced the wonder of a Missouri liquor store.
When liquor laws are this liberal, the liquor store becomes Candyland for adults.

My wife and I took advantage of their Build-a-Sixpack setup to get a bunch of samples.

My choice for dinner tonight is New Belgium 1554 black lager.

Very smooth start, reminds me of Fat Tire (duh).
The finish is a little too dry for me.

My wife's choice for dinner is Angry Orchard Cinnful Apple cider.

Lives up to its name, but the combination is WEIRD rolling off the tongue.

Tried a Sam Adams cream stout at lunch.
Now I know the meaning of "bitter beer face".

Started dinner with a Point IPA.
Pain, every sip, from start to finish.

Switched to a Boulevard unfiltered wheat beer.
Goes down smooth, takes all the pain away.

A bottle of Chimay blue tonight (No, not the big 75cl one :chuckle: This one clocks in at 9%). Those Trappist monks sure know what they are doing in the brewery :chuckle:

Good carbonation, rich taste of dried fruits and caramelle.

I bought this for my brother as part of a CHristmas gift. Wonder if it will be good. The bottle just makes me laugh. :chuckle:

Also got him Sam Smith's seasonal winter ale for 2014-2015.
I want to try them myself. I should have bought 2 of each.
