Does it hurt when you have to stretch the scripture this much to try to find something that is not there?

It does NOT say anything about an "old law" and a "new law" there. It says THE LAW.
Rom 7:6 (AKJV/PCE)​
(7:6) But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not [in] the oldness of the letter.

Newness of spirit is NOT "new law".

Just get Jesus' teaching and obey everything you can, and then call on Jesus to help you.

Jesus will save you and give you understanding.

Jesus saves those who believe and obey that is to whom he gives understanding.
